Time to make the call to Dan Mullen

What happened between those two?
Did you miss the part where Mullen held the university hostage several years in a row? He was also a total pain in the *** to deal with, was a dick to everyone, and the only reason Cohen was named AD was because Mullen refused to talk to anyone else.
**All that to say, I'd take him back in a second, but I was not his boss and did not have to deal with him or the way he handled things on the way out

Well you have to wonder if that's what it takes to win at MSU. If those other people knew what they were doing, then maybe Dan would not have needed to be a Pain in the A$$

With that said, College Football is a totally different world now. Dabo, who was great, can't win. Not confident Dan could today.

My lasting memory of Dan Mullen is the 2017 Egg Bowl where Ole Miss broke Fitz’s ankle, was cheap shotting our players all game, fake dog peeing in the end zone and kicking our arse up and down the field, and Mullen just stood on the sideline with a smirk on his face because he knew he was out the door the next day. So no to Dan Mullen.
Yep. Dan should've been across that field and in Matt Luke's face immediately. Completely disinterested in the one game he always made the biggest deal out of. There was no excuse to lose to that Ole Miss team, unless your entire staff is preparing to go another SEC school during game week.

I don't want Mullen back, but I wouldn't complain if he was the choice. He's definitely better than what we have.
Is he actively trying to leave UNLV like he was when he as at State? If he is, I've not heard about it. But I wouldn't mind having him back if there was some sort of non-compete clause in the contract.

Agree with both of those. Dan was a good counter to the aww gee shucks culture here and it produced.

Although I wouldn't be upset if we tried Dan 2.0, his bread and butter was identifying overlooked talent and developing it. Can that work today or would we just incur the cost to find and develop only to have another program write a bigger check and get the benefit of that player's most productive years?

Hard to see why if he is. Las Vegas area has several Targets for sure.

Well to be honest every coach at MSU has one foot out the door. Either they suck and fixing to be fired or they win and fixing to move to another school.

We should've hired Jon Sumrall in 2024 but we didn't because he's "going to Kentucky as soon as it opens"

I don't know. I'd take Minnie Mouse of Leb, but this is not a long-term solution. I'd rather see Dan as AD

Dan wasn't the biggest fan of recruiting then.

Does today's environment make that easier or harder?

Some numbers for those that want Dan back-

As a ranked team- 18-19
Vs ranked teams- 8-33
Both teams ranked- 2-16
Egg Bowl- 5-4
Egg when ranked- 1-4 !!!!!!
Bowl record- 5-2
Bowl vs ranked team 0-2
Three of his five Egg Bowl wins were against Houston Nutt. He was 2-3 against Freeze and 0-1 against Matt 17ing Luke. He also completely blew the 2014, 2015 and 2017 Egg Bowls against Ole Miss teams we were much better on paper than. And his record against ranked teams was atrocious. There's plenty of better options out there than retread Dan Mullen if we decide to part ways with Lebby.
