Why does the media not respect Pope?

Pope is the anchor in which the UK boat is tied it will go no where till it is removed. How this guy is still our coach or ever was our coach I will never understand . It makes and never made any sense

I will answer with a question, which may not be exactly what you are asking, but I believe it is appropriate.

What has Pope done at UK (or anywhere), to gain the respect of the media and fans? He has produced mediocre results as a head coach. He has accomplished nothing as a head coach and his name should never have been in the discussion. We hired him to appease a large portion of the fanbase that wanted Cal gone and hiring a UK hero (as a player) was a quick way to get that group to shut up.

I also don’t understand how he was even in the discussion. Nothing about his tenure as a head coach said, “he can win on the biggest stage in college basketball.”

Mitch is lazy - that is the answer . I still think we could of gotten Donovan finally had he waited and courted him again.. Could of gone after Vogel - neither were really even contacted.

Mitch panicked after getting turned down by Drew. Thought he had that wrapped up.

Exactly.

But I thought it would turn out to be a great hire.

I never dreamed it would turn out like this.

I can’t agree with many on this list.

Which?

Forget Pope, he's not it. This should be the list used for the next coach. Question is who would be on market?

4 - Golden - next job NBA?
10 - Oats - would the UK NIL get him into regular title contention?
14 - Otz - he's working with peanuts at ISU, does he come for the NIL?
15 - McCasland - TT has $$, but it's a Tech Football school.
20 - McCollum - great coach, but wouldn't seem a cultural fit
25 - Jai Lucas - too early?

Off that list, I'd think possibilities are in waiting: Hodgson, Murray, Schertz or little Pitino.

We will go into the ncaa with 10 losses and get knocked out round of 16. Then we re stuck with this clown we already are. My buddy a big donor he has been gushing over pope lately. It’s the effect of our fb team winning. The guy is so excited about fb that he doesn’t want to upset things now. He was talking about how stein and pope have grown to be friends. There’s so much apathy right now toward the basketball program that the excitement in football well some guys like my friend who’s kind of influential at least on the NIL front I feel like he will deal with pope even act like he loves Pope as long as there’s a major distraction of winning and a sport basically, if you’re really winning at a high level, you know top four level it’s getting late in the basketball season before those teams football season is over. I’ve got big concerns about Basketball program and losing the tradition.
