If I remember correctly, when they interviewed Seneca the day he committed, he stated the former staff quit recruiting him several months before Stoops left...What a friggin' crimeThat's why we hired Will. Stoops wasn't pulling that talent out of his backyard. Give Will a few more years.

If he doesn't want to be here we don't need him.
HA! Seneca NOT Senna! I see what you did.Thought this would be a F1 old school racing thread . Old eyes I guess
YepStein’s TEs are a huge part of his offense. The Oregon TEs had over 1100 yards combined last year with two guys over 500 yards. As stated above, can totally understand wanting to be tutored under Witten but for the most part the NFL will recognize the talent wherever a kid plays and no doubt Stein would target him a lot.
Yes. He did not want to compete with Rod this year. We could see him next year.I think he comes to us from the portal. Willie Rodriguez will be a star.
And we turned around a few days after Seneca's commitment to OU an got a pretty big replacement at TE ourselves.This. Seems pretty clear he just always wanted to go somewhere else. That's fine. As another poster said, with the portal, anything can happen down the road.
What I love is apparently both staffs just moved on. No need to dote over a kid that doesn't want to be here yet. Move on.
With Stein reeling in great talent, we can do at least as good.
But in today’s portal/mercenary era, even a “really firm” commitment only ensures one season. He seems really firm on his commitment. Even after we beat OU, he said he was still going there. I’ll give Stein credit for trying. But, I’d be surprised if he was here.

I understand the draw to Whitten but it doesn’t matter who your position coach is if the OC doesn’t scheme to use the TE as a weapon. Stoops didn’t target the TE a lot but they were heavily involved in the blocking scheme. OKC doesn’t even do that. They are a more spread offense. Dumb decision to go somewhere that doesn’t feature your position.Stein’s TEs are a huge part of his offense. The Oregon TEs had over 1100 yards combined last year with two guys over 500 yards. What's happening with the other big tMan I hate to lose a kid from in state that talented
Agree and he’s already made it clear that’s the case. Now with Oklahoma having the season they are, things could shake up at the end of the season. I’m thinking , even If they let Brent go, (doubtful), the new Head Coach will keep Jason on the staff. It would give him something to look at though so we’ll see. He would be unbelievable under our current staff and I hope we can flip him. The money could just be too much to make it happen with what we’ll need to replace and try to upgrade a couple positions. In a great spot either way and if we can somehow keep Willy, it’s gravy. As long as Jason Witten is at OU there is no chance. If he were to leave who knows.
Honestly, it was probably a waste of time and money for them to keep in his recruitment. Probably the right move and I’m sure they saw he was going to play under Witten. If I remember correctly, when they interviewed Seneca the day he committed, he stated the former staff quit recruiting him several months before Stoops left...What a friggin' crime
