Will AP Voters …

Will AP voters drop OSU out of the top 10? Backup QB losing on the road to a USC team with only 2 losses that just dropped out of the top 25 and will probably move back in?

I think OSU with 2 losses should be no higher than No. 10 and you have to account for the fact that they just are not as good with the backup QB. But will voters slide them out? And, if so, how far will they slide?

They now have losses to a Texas team that is vulnerable and USC. Two good teams that are still in the playoff hunt but not favorites for a national title.

It’s wild when you look at the SEC teams still in the playoff hunt. Kentucky. Georgia, Ole Miss, Alabama, Texas, Tennessee, LSU and Missouri could get in the picture by winning out. 7 teams firmly in the picture with an 8th still with a punchers chance. And all but 3 of these teams will be left out.

Most of the media talking heads are discounting Kentucky as a playoff team.
If we beat Tennessee, and I believe Stein will have a gameplan to do that, the Cats will be talked about as a top 5 team.
Saturday’s game is one of the biggest we’ve had in many years- win that one and there will be even bigger games to play.

Will be interesting to see where the committee ranks UK Tuesday night. If everything they say matters we will be no lower than 4. Georgia with our resume would likely be #1. UK’s opponents are a whopping 14 games above .500 with vandy being the only opponent with a sub .500 record at 3-5. Notre dames is 9 games below, ucla 12, Utah 3. Only Indiana’s opponents 11 games above .500 rivals UK at all, no one else is even close. Miami, one game above, Georgia 5 below, BYU 2 above.

Tennessee is going to be playing for a playoff birth against us at home. Odds are we lose un less we play our best game of the season.
Not trying to be negative, but I can see us losing to Tennessee and we are out of the playoff discussion. I hope Stein is gameplanning. So far, he appears to be meticulous.

Stop worrying about the AP poll. It’s utterly irrelevant.

Tuesday we get the first CFP rankings. That’s the only rankings we should be talking about from now on. Because it’s the only one that actually means a damn thing.
Not worried at all. Just discussing.

I seem to recall broadcasts using the playoff rankings in substitute of the AP ranking once released. Like if the playiff committee had UK at 6 for example and AP had 8 they would use the 6 ...

No clue if every network did this but I remember it happening. Makes sense considering that's the rankings that mean something going forward.

Wrong. We might lose to UT, but that absolutely would NOT put us “out of the playoff discussion.”

10-2 should be enough to get us in. We can afford one more loss.

We will not be out of playoff contention with a loss to em'.

I bet Stein will have something cooked up for this game.

I really hope the Cats when in Knoxville. It is going to be a really tough game to win. I would expect the same Tennessee atmosphere that Alabama faced for sure. But if they don't win it does not end all hope. There is still a lot of football to be played. The Cats will be in at 10-2 with no questions asked. They will stay in the discussion at 9-3 and still have hope. Due to the sheer number of huge games left to be played in the SEC. In the end the SEC will be lucky to have a team or 2 still above 9-3. Just look at the top teams remain schedules it is brutal. I firmly believe that at least 1 SEC Championship team will be 9-3 when that game is played.
