College ump suspended after egregious strike call

Plate umpire Reggie Drummer, who made an egregious third strike call to end Friday's game between New Orleans and Mississippi Valley State, has been suspended indefinitely.

I’m sure it’s all just a misunderstanding.

The game in question took place Friday night. Note the score of Saturday’s game. A$$. BEATING. .

Strike two was also a ball and the batter reacted accordingly. It seemed like the umpire didn't like being shown up and called the horrible third strike as a way of getting back at the batter. Maybe the umpire was bad the whole game. The opposing catcher was trying to hold back the batter and even though I don't know what he was saying, his body language gave a vibe of, "Let it go. He's not worth it."

I remember seeing calls like that when my son was playing Legion ball and our umps would see the umps from the other games already drinking beer in the parking lot. Strike zone suddenly got huge!

That bump should never be allowed to umpire again. No matter what, you can’t let the players reactions alter your judgement.
