This is the most successful 10 loss team ever at this juncture
We've had a bunch of really impressive wins!
I predicted 22 wins preseason. 1 off, not bad.
I think we win 2 if not 3 more if healthy. Fantastic season. Lost some head scratchers but the big wins hugely made up for it.
22 and 9 was my pre season prediction if we were healthy we would have won 3 or 4 more huge win today 3 seed very realistic now

We are seeing what a healthy Carr and Butler change for the trajectory of this team.
We would have 3 or 4 less losses if Carr didn’t have his back flare up and butler didn’t have shoulder injury.

I honestly think we are a lock now…we have more impressive wins than 99% of the field.
Great regular season considering massive injuries.

With 8 of those wins coming against top 15 teams. I’m not gonna bother looking it up but we probably haven’t beaten that many top 15 teams the last couple of years combined.
We havent. And Pope isnt exactly doing this with world beaters.
I picked the 21-10 record but I thought we’d go 9-9 in conference. While I picked the correct record, I certainly wouldn’t have been very accurate picking individual games. I would’ve been less than .500 probably as I would’ve predicted we lost the big games we won and won against the bad teams we lost to.
I honestly thought that 18 regular season wins was our ceiling to secure us a 6 seed…maybe a 5 seed. Add in injuries and Coach Pope and his Cats have over performed dramatically. Post season will be the true measure but for now…Bravo men! GBB!
The Games I want Back:
1. Ohio St- man that was just pathetic. No way we should've lost that.
2. Arky- see above. On the road would've been one thing but what a woof at home.
3. UGA- we got SEC-rewed but you still gotta beat that weak team.
4. Clemson- first road game, but we should've had it. SOOOO close to knocking off a good team in a tough environment.
Give those 4 back and we are 25 and 6 and holy cow, probably a 2 with a chance at a 1.
Is what it is and today's win makes me confident we can make a run!

This is about what I expected, record-wise. I had no idea we’d be able to compete with top competition, however. Figured we’d take care of business against mid-tier SEC teams but lack the personnel to consistently win big games. Boy was I wrong. I doubt anyone wants us on their side of the bracket!
I thought we would be bad this year. Can't deny it.
What Pope has done considering the injuries, league context and keeping in mind he had to put the roster together in 3-4 weeks is incredible. I'm fully bought in now.

Losing 10 games and tying a program record in top 15 wins in the same season is a pretty wild dichotomy
It is but that shows the strength of the SEC this season. It’s not the cakewalk with 1-3 competitive games it was years ago.
Tubby: I never missed the tourney, but the sport was changing so I moved on

Pope: The sport changed and I adapted.
The only reason we sniffed 10 losses was because of injury. Honestly it’s remarkable how well we have played being a full team for 7 games.
I saw that 8 wins is the most against top 15 in NCAA history! That’s an accomplishment especially for a first year coach! Now let’s go kick some @$$ in the SEC and NCAA!!!!

All I can say is this 10 losses year feels 100x’s different than Cal’s underachieving 10 loss years. No horrible losses outside Ohio State, a lot of top 15 wins, and grinded in the hardest conference while not being at full strength ever.
Ten loss regular season after constructing a roster starting in mid-April, multiple injuries and year one for Pope with some big-time wins over ranked opponents. Hard to view it as anything less than a success for a first-year job. Winning record in conference play in the competitive SEC. It would be a worse off season if CCC were still on the sidelines. Had it been a healthy season, at least not losing Robinson and Butler for as many games, this team wouldn't even have 10 right now.
