Its been 15 years so far, and while the new century hasn't been completely on fleek, there still has been some pretty dope music. Here are my ten favorite albums:

10. Give Up - The Postal Service

9. Set Yourself on Fire - Stars

8. Is This It? - The Strokes

7. Deja Entendu - Brand New

6. The College Dropout - Kanye West

Part deux to follow

Is this thread a matter of taste or are we using some kind of sales/popularity metric?

I ask because I hate indie rock, modern hip hop and modern pop/country.

The Strokes are the best band that came out in the last 30 years. TS.

If you disagree, you're an imbecile.

I must live in a cave because I have not heard of 75% of the bands or albums being listed. Then again, I am stuck in the 80's and 90's on Sirius so I do not know much of anything music related the past 10+ years.

They don't hold a candle to the White Stripes, the Killers, or the Black Keys from this era.
Is this it is better than anything these guys have ever put out. And I love Sam's Town. I played that album continuously for weeks

I actually prefer Hot Fuss to Sam's Town, but they're both great. The Killer's are due for some good new material.

Jack White and the Black Keys are two of the biggest names in Music today, but I prefer the stuff they put out in the 2000's.

I'd have to look through my music library to come up with something. Tons of the bands I like started out in the 90s so I have no clue what albums came out when.

This thread just reinforces how bad music has been over the past 10-15 years IMO. Rap and Pop rule which OK if you like those genres. Rock is on life support but will make a come back one day. These are three bands still making music in the 2000's that I like:

Most of these wouldn't be on any list of mine. Mainstream music, to me, has been awful but there is still a lot of great music being made. My taste go toward the progressive side of rock and have recently found that the genre is still going strong with many great albums made in just the last year, unfortunately, none of these get radio play. The podcast musicinwidescreen has opened my ears to lots of great artist I had never heard before such as Steven Wilson, Theo, United Progressive Fraternity, Symphony X, Von Hertzen Brothers, Arena, Ayreon and countless others.
If you enjoy progressive rock, check out their podcast at http://www.musicinwidescreen.com.

One could make a case that College Dropout, Late Registration, Graduation, and MBDTF all belong on it.

For all the (deserved) **** people blow Kanye, he's produced some amazing albums.

I would go with Favorite Worst Nightmare or WPTIATWIN for Arctic Monkeys top Album of the 2000s. All 3 should be considered for top 10 of the 2000s.
