I know it's UNBELIEVABLE that our AD has hamstrung our Football Program by doing this, but it is reality.

That's what makes this situation maybe even worse than the Joker debacle.

Unless a booster can come up with some cash to help pay that money, he's here another season.

Pitiful I know, but that's what Mitch created.

Mitch might have screwed himself also in all this. We make a lot of money in the SEC. 12 million is a drop in the bucket. Dead man walking if you ask me. Maybe MB to.

I told Mitch that this contract extension was not a very good idea and that the fans would not understand. Now, with several bad seasons in a row, it's come back to bite him

While it is unfortunate that we are saddled with this buyout, one has to wonder what the longer term implications are for keeping a lame duck around for another season. At that point, we will have better talent than Joker left, but still not on par with much of the SEC, even middle of the pack programs. A dead program, albeit with a pretty stadium and practice facility. But all hype gone. No momentum. I'd venture a guess that we stand to lose far more than 12 million bucks down the road if the program is driven into the ground. The fan base seems to be at a critical crossroads, IMO. The program is losing it quickly.

All hypothetical, of course. Stoops and company may pull a rabbit out of the hat (admittedly doubting that).

What AD gives a coach a 5 year extension:
-mid-season
-without being ranked
-before being Bowl eligible
-not really being courted by anyone else

Truly is amazing.:(
