WVU’s lone case as a win for having football in the fall. Across the rest of the Big 12, however, news has not been as good.

Clemson is #1. They had 26 amongst staff and players. We all have to raise our game.

“We got to pump those #s up. Those are rookie #s in this racket!”

I have a little different take at this. If the medical experts are right (for a change), then your school might be better off with having as many athletes as possible test positive for the virus during June and July, provided, of course, that nobody dies. The current consensus is that once you have this bug, antibodies will form, and you're extremely unlikely to contract the virus again. Therefore, if a bunch of a school's players test positive now, then there would be fewer players who would test positive in the Fall when it matters most.

I agree. Younger healthier players testing positive will build up antibodies against the virus.

The biggest worry for schools should be the older coaches on a team and how healthy are they.

Good point about the coaches, Allen. Ohio State just scheduled a home-and-home with Alabama, and it was debated on Columbus sports radio whether Saban would still be coaching the Tide at age 75. Perhaps, Saban will still be coaching then, but what would he have left to prove? You have to figure that Alabama will win at least one more natty in the next few years, so you would wonder why Saban would stick around that long.

Let's hope. Given the current political climate in this country, it would be nice to have an outlet this fall to take our minds off things for a few hours with football. I feel like the more who test positive though, it'll just be used as an excuse to cancel the season or push it back.

The increased cases are mostly a good thing. A vaccine or curative drug was always a long shot and the most likely course or dealing with COVID was always going to have to through. Meaning infections would have to occur, just ideally in a more controlled rate. Most states and hospitals ramped up for spike that never happened. Now hospitals are below staffing numbers relative to the same time of year in previous years and healthcare workers are waiting for the call to come back. So while we have the staff and the typical summer decrease in hospitalizations its better to get some of the inevitable cases out of the way now. Worst case scenario is to have peak Coronavirus numbers during or within 1 month of the peak flu numbers.
