What do you do at 149? Do you let Swiddy keep working it out, or do you pivot to someone else? Can Teague cut down to 149? Do you give Swiddy until January to figure it out and then put Tagen in there?

I think you see how quickly Travis cna cut down and then have him and Jamison fight it out when Jamison is healthy.
He will get his chances to right the ship. What worries me is he is stuggling with pretty average wrestlers. He is looking like how he looked at ISU, IMO. Lots of pushing and aggression but no real offense. I was hoping DT would be able to take his aggression and work in some real offense. That is why I was optimistic about Casey. Maybe it will still come but it is rough right now.
JMO from watching him move, I think he's fighting an injury.

Swiderski's issue is conditioning. Always has been.
I really hope we don't wrestle Jax. No one is beating Penn State this year. We are going to waste so much eligibility on absolute studs. How is it not best for our team to redshirt everyone? Cael did this at Penn State and it started their run.

Looking back, probably should’ve tried to do that with last years guys. I know several on here called for it. I understand wanting to compete but I do see the value in using the rules to set up future success.
I get that but wrestling has changed since Cael started and these kids are so much more prepared out of high school then back in those days.

I agree and wanted that as well but last year worked out pretty well with huge positive momentum.
Getting 3rd, 3 in the finals, and 2 National Champs, Hodge Winner was pretty awesome.
I’m also team no Jax this year, but with that being said if he wants to come in and go the spot is likely his.
100% correct. My thought is that Penn State has a super team assembled currently. Our recruiting is putting us in position to compete. But it's going to be at least one more year if not two to three. Let's let Messinbrink and Haines and Van Ness clear out.
Also, want to hear a nightmare scenario? Jax Forrest having to face Corey Blaze and/or Ono at 133 the next 4 years....
He will not be at133 when he gets here and with his build he may not be at141. It would be a terrible move to have him wrestle this year in college. Not because he couldn't do it but because it would not make a difference in how we finish against Penn State and others. I do not want his career rushed. If he wants to come 2nd semester and work out with the RTC I am fine with that. He wrestled at 139 in the worlds (61KG) and will definitely grow this next year. He most probably will be at 149 to
start with in college and then go progressively up like Dake IMO.

Jax is a 133 right now. And could possibly be 133 next year. Will most likely be 141 though. He's 19, if he has some crazy growth spurt it's a small possibility.
And guess what? for the next 4 years, PSU has 6-8 guys who are all likely-top 3 finishes. There's no such thing as catching PSU. You're going to have to beat them. And that means getting guys in the finals and winning them. As long as Jax is cool with it, you run him this year. Especially because it's possible he doesn't make 133 next year. Having him wrestle with Vega, Robideau, Dee is good thing. All 4 can make the finals.
One of Vega/Raney are getting squeezed. If Robideau and Dee could move up that would do wonders.
Also, while Jax is enrolling second semester - it's not a done deal that he wrestles with the okiest singlet on.
Respectfully disagree 100% on this year. WHY? It's wasted individual and team years. None of those four would be favored to win. Why would we not copy Penn State's method?
The only counter-arguement is Coach Taylor's supreme confidence that he can just recruit the very best wrestlers every year and reload. Which so far he's been able to do.
61 KG is 134 he's a 133 this year and this year only he's a 141 next year

61kg is 134.5 lbs. I haven't heard anything about him having trouble making that weight. In February, he cut down to 127 lbs in their dual against Faith Christian in hopes of facing Joe Bachmann (who then bumped up to avoid him lol). I think he will be fine making 133 this year if that's the plan

Don't forget about Zinkin he's gonna keep jumping levels as well. Ronnie will be a 133 as well
The cut to 61 hasn't been an easy one at all but for a semester he can make 133 . Working out with the college team will help with his weight as well.

Agreed on the micro level. I think they could win any match. On the macro level, the probability of any of them winning the national championship this year is relatively low. And definitely increases next year.
He wanted momentum and not to miss out on the paycom duals. And I imagine ego played a part as well
That looks amazing, but what do we lose if we had an average season last year where we don't win CKLV, don't win Big 12s, don't place 3rd, don't have 2 champs, don't have the Hodge winner, and possibly don't qualify for National Duals? Would we have landed the Raneys? Jax and Dreshaun? Also not sure that WCAP would've let Wyatt redshirt

Not saying you're wrong but why not exactly? Explain please. I think I know what you're gonna say but I may be missing some factors. NIL? Transfer portal mainly?
You have no idea what the landscape is going to look like 4-5 years from now. In four years, DT could be PSU's coach, Jax could be in MMA, Dreshaun could be playing for the 49ers, and Bo Bassett could be wrestling where we previously projected Jax to be. Upsets, injuries, transfers, burnouts, and early retirements make things way too unpredictable with super high-level guys like Jax.
If he wants to wrestle at a spot where OSU has a need in a year where we have even a sliver of a chance at winning (which we do), you gotta wrestle him.
