Not saying you're wrong but why not exactly? Explain please. I think I know what you're gonna say but I may be missing some factors. NIL? Transfer portal mainly?
Too much money involved, people aren’t patient like they used to be, not looking at the big picture, every season is an n=1, no guarantee you will be at one place for your entire career. All the incentives are aligned to win now. Athletes seems to want to get on with things as opposed to wait around these days, get on to the next step be it high school to college or college to whatever is after college.

Additionally, in DT’s case, massive pressure to generate momentum and justify the investment.

We are in a completely different era of collegiate athletics.

That looks amazing, but what do we lose if we had an average season last year where we don't win CKLV, don't win Big 12s, don't place 3rd, don't have 2 champs, don't have the Hodge winner, and possibly don't qualify for National Duals? Would we have landed the Raneys? Jax and Dreshaun? Also not sure that WCAP would've let Wyatt redshirt
I agree. Last year I was hoping OSU would redshirt everyone but I think it worked out for the best. I think the momentum and positive attention OSU got by Hamiti knocking off 2 ncaa champs, both of which aren’t just champs but all time greats, and Wyatt pulling off one of the biggest upsets in NCAA history is massive. What OSU did was seen as the biggest story despite PSU having a 5x and setting the point record.

You have no idea what the landscape is going to look like 4-5 years from now. In four years, DT could be PSU's coach, Jax could be in MMA, Dreshaun could be playing for the 49ers, and Bo Bassett could be wrestling where we previously projected Jax to be. Upsets, injuries, transfers, burnouts, and early retirements make things way too unpredictable with super high-level guys like Jax.

If he wants to wrestle at a spot where OSU has a need in a year where we have even a sliver of a chance at winning (which we do), you gotta wrestle him.
Great points. I worry about DT not being here long term as well. And if he is here you have to think he will just reload.

My only caveat is the super teams that Penn State has run out the past few years and this year. They have all broken scoring records. If Jax wrestles this year we are going to have a really good, exciting team that will lose by 40 points at Nationals. So why fight that fight? Why not take the chance that we can keep this group together and make our own run? That is exactly what Cael did to start his domination. But you've already answered this question - you and many others think that era has passed. It doesn't exist anymore. I wish we knew for sure. Ugh.

Someone said we're just going to have to beat them. And that's so true. I would like it to not to be true freshmen vs redshirt juniors though. Get the experience levels and ages more evenly matched up. But it's never going to be perfect.

There’s also the question of whether Dean, Dustin and Wyatt even wanted to redshirt.

Yes. Can't argue with any of your great points. Wish I could from a strategic "I only care about OSU team national titles" perspective. Just ain't happening.

Sorry, follow-up questions. Which brother at which weight? And which brother is thought to have the higher ceiling?

Gosh, I cannot see Vega or Forrest getting their spots taken. Insane amount of talent here and incoming!
I believe Jayden will be 133 and Jordyn 149. As for who has the higher ceiling? No idea lol. I feel like I hear about Jordyn more and I think he was ranked like one spot higher.

This is nuts! Surely there will have to be some redshirting involved from 133 to 149.

Ramirez
Raney
Raney
Vega
Forrest

Zinkin is going to be a 125lber?

And there are other Top 25-50 overall recruits on the roster as well.

Yup!

Welcome to the show!
Getting them is actually easier then keeping them when they burn a year on the bench. Cael has been able to do that because damn near every top guy has left with an NCAA title . So kids will sit because they know I can definitely win a title here since everyone has. Not saying DT won't achieve that but it's very early in his career. This year having a few champs will definitely help things.

It's more evident in NIL era. Start your studs. We don't know what will happen. We can figure out about 2027-2028 when it gets here.

Who knows? We might recruit more studs through the results we show each year. Every year the mentality must be winning NCAA championship. I agree with DT.

Great talent coming at 25. Crazy depth at 33, 41, 49. Elite starters at 57, 65. A star coming in at 285. That leaves 74, 84, 97 as question marks for the future. I'm hopeful about the three we have now, but you can't win a title if you can't score.

Is Ramirez a 133 or can he make 125?
This has been my question. He gets pushed around fairly easily. That happened to him at 127 and 57kg as well but it will be worse at 133. Ayala stole that match from him from the simple fact that he was able to push him backwards. If he's redshirting this year I guess he can bulk a bit and do some sumo training

True freshmen champions at upper weights are rare as it takes a little longer to develop. Facundo had a brutal weekend of tough wrestlers, but he lost them all. I think they are young and may come around.

Yes, Facundo may still be a Top-8 guy. He's just not elite (yet) like some of us thought he was gonna be and were led to believe. He cannot finish his shots. He seems too small and not strong enough for 174.

I posted about Teague Travis going to Missouri 2nd semester. It was already public by his mom
I couldn’t find it, I didn’t want the jumping of the gun coming from here.

Also, a small portion of it was holding hope that he would change his mind. He’s one of my favorite Cowboys!

Why do posts get deleted on this forum?
mods are trying to keep this forum focused on OSU wrestling and not a place to discuss rumors. if you want "anything goes" zero moderation forums, go to Iowa's or Intermat or Facebook. This place is way more civil due to the moderation IMO. a couple people can get butthurt about not being able to be the first to break news here but I don't care and I don't mind waiting an extra day or reading it elsewhere first.

Teague is awesome. I'll never forget how he got it done at the Big 12 tournament last year to qualify for NCAAs despite having no matches at 149 that year. And then was a dog from the pigtail match to the round of 16 while dealing with a host of injuries and ailments. Good luck at Mizzou, Teague!

157 is my guess. They'll want to RS Seth Mendoza (not a true 157 anyway) and Teague can beat out James Conway. I think he would beat Josh Edmond as well though
Teague will probably go 157 and finish out his career the 2nd semester. He’s a good dude and a warrior that works his butt off and does whatever is best for the team. Last year he went down to 149 for the team even though he could have been the guy at 157! I don’t think you guys understand just how hard of a cut it is for him to get to 149.

Rumors are all over this board and stay up as long as they don't pertain to Oklahoma st. The news was already public. I don't post about commitments before they're made public

And you couldn't take my word for it when I said it was public. Who are the people who get on you when stuff is made public here? The staff?
