Saw this graphic online... Don't recall ever hearing about this before. While these are like most of Pitt's natty's, those 1911-12 teams were impressive.

1911 team (8-0-1) shut out 7 of 9 opponents, outscoring them 199-15.

1912 team (8-0) shut out 7 of 8 opponents, outscoring them 285-6. Ohio State forfeited down 37-0 because we were playing too rough.

No truth to the rumor that Cliffy was the QB on the 1912 team. 😁

Until every has the opportunity to play their way to a championship, these will all be mythical national championships. That said, the CFP is a whole lot better than popularity contests and random news outlets awarding championships.

Paterno's unbeaten and untiled seasons with no MNC. Can you imagine 12-0 and not getting at least a share of the MNC?

1968 11-0
1969 11-0
1973 12-0
1994 12-0

Most recently UCF in 2017. 12-0 with a bowl win over #7 Auburn.
Of course they didn't play a P5 schedule. PSU was 12-0 in the BiG in 1994 but finished second because Joe played 2nd and 3rd team players that gave up 16 late Q4 points to Indiana which made the final score look closer than the game really was. That couldn't happen today because there's no way an undefeated BiG team misses the playoffs.

Agreed. Further solidifies my thinking that we're getting closer to the correct way of crowning a champion. I'm all in favor of the 12-team playoff. No excuses. Just win the games, and you're the champ. That couldn't be said years ago.
