I was 11 years old and Neil Armstrong landed on the moon that summer. The New York Jets had just beaten the unbeatable Baltimore Colts in the third Super Bowl, and the number of people looking for work was the smallest it had been up to that time.

Today's jobless claims numbers are the lowest they have been since 1969 yet that news is buried under a Socialist's claim for 70% tax rates while the latest Socialist experiment collapses in Venezuela and Catholic teenage kids are being bashed for standing up for human life!

What a time we are living in.

This is historic news! I don't watch ABC, NBC, CBS, or CNN...was it lead story today? Even mentioned on any of those Networks?

While you check that can you link me to what the Socialist Democrat party's plan is to get the unemployment or jobless claims numbers lower than what were posted today?

Maybe we should follow the Venezuela experiment?

That’s racist.

One could look at it that way. I choose to consider it a sign of respect.

The OP understands he is outmatched intellectually and unable to respond to anything I post with well thought-out factually based non-relativistic analysis. So he is reduced to responding to my posts with imbecilic caricatures that reveal his infantile thought processes.

It's his way of saying I bow down. [winking]

I was trying to make someone laugh, I almost posted a Bevis and Butthead meme....but the gorillas made me laugh. The racism thing wasn’t on my mind, if it was found by you to be offensive in that way — I apologize, and certainly didn’t intend for it to be any type of racial commentary.

As for your post, good dig. Relatively speaking, it was funny.

At least you admit to your weak attempt at humor. Try something more up to your speed next time. Like the random thoughts of a lonely Unicorn wandering through Life without a clue?

Those jobless numbers are not giving a true picture of joblessness. Close to a million people are out of work because our "Government" is shut down. This is happening because of petty jealousies between factions of the so called "LEADERS" of our country. I am not smart enough to know all the rectifying answers but I am smart enough to know that what we have going on now is not in the best interests of "We The People".
The pettyness, jealousy, and one upsmanship of our "LEADERS" do not align with the intent of the framers.

Those folks you mention are not unemployed they just have non-essential jobs that the government isn't funding.

As for pettiness what is more petty than refusing to agree to a spending bill that covers 1/10 of 1% of our entire federal budget to protect the country which is what we consider an essential function of our government and its leaders?

Really?

Neither do "Sanctuary cities" "catch and release" "chain migration" or open borders.

The Framers if you recall from your American history which you may or may not have been taught, put specific limits on the Government to limit its ability to do things that are not in the Constitution such as those described in the above paragraph.

We would all be wise to be as wise as our Framers were instead of pretending as if they didn't know what they were doing when they put that Constitution in place as a check on unlimited Government.

Some of the framers were ok with slavery too

They weren't "OK" with it if they quantified that we were all created equal. True there was an honest dispute about how to handle folks who had been brought here as slaves, but to our credit this nation ended that savagery and has been the best place for descendants of African Americans in the history of the world.

They certainly are not lining up to get into Venezuela or any other Socialist utopia.

Yeah, Venezuela is exactly like America, lol, I bet half his rubes couldn't find it on a map now that it and AOC have been communicated to the shrinking base as boogeymen to be feared. Stay afraid of "they".

FYI they tried AOC's prescription on taxing the wealthy in that nation and now they have rioting in the streets. Wonder why no one is asking her what they did wrong down there?

Really?

If they are not being paid, they are unemployed.

Only when they get their back pay will they become gainfully employed--some won't get back pay.

Any who are furloughed do not qualify for
unemployment.

Rhetoric conversation abounds, but does not help.

Yes, Really.

I also remember people used to care about workforce participation rates. Odd they no longer do.

It was down 3% from 2009 to 2018 and has ticked back up .2 % from April 2018 to Dec 2018.

It’s going to come out as soon as Nancy lets Donnie speak. Approximately 6 months.

Here is a question, how many have faith Congress can solve the immigration & border issues if the president reopens govt. before reaching an agreement to end the shutdown?

Finally, how many think the wall issue is political for both Republicans & Democrats? A pissing contest if you will.....

I'm glad the Founders didn't count your "pure energy source" as self-evident! Remind me again who they said made us all equal and endowed us with our "inalienable" rights? Or was that not covered in your relativist fantasy world of history?

Trump might get Dems to approval the wall if he would allow angry Leftists to spray anti Trump graffiti all over it. [winking]

I actually thought they were unemployed while they were being paid? What does non-essential work mean to you? If they're "non-essential" why are we paying them?
