1. What was the subject of the "dumpster fire" thread? I imagine it started out as one thing and ended up as something else. I don't remember the details.

2. Up until the merger, I didn't pay attention to Nazareth. Now, I'm reading about the "Naz posse." Is this just some group of students who act silly at games, or is it something else?

Thank you boys, and good luck to all next weekend.

Remember, if you're recording a game later in the day, it will likely start late due to the endless awards ceremonies. Also, the 7A game frequently gets cut off (and switched to the other channel) due to a Hawks or Bulls game.

MC:

I will try to answer.

1. What was the subject of the "dumpster fire" thread? I imagine it started out as one thing and ended up as something else. I don't remember the details.

The name of the original thread is unknown to me, but Cat Box, a supporter of Aurora Christian, started the thread to celebrate AC's athletic successes over the course of the year. HSSTigerFan incited an insurgent war, and the thread quickly slipped off the rails. What was intended to bring attention to AC's athletic accomplishments eventually descended into the hell of another banal private vs. public debate.

I don't recall with any degree of accuracy the length it reached; some observers fondly recollect over 15 pages.

2. Up until the merger, I didn't pay attention to Nazareth. Now, I'm reading about the "Naz posse." Is this just some group of students who act silly at games, or is it something else?

The "Insane Naz Posse" is a pejorative attached to supporters of Nazareth Academy. It was the creation of a fellow ESCC traveler. The label is intending to convey Nazareth posters are deranged, deluded, overzealous, or hypersensitive.

I am not an adherent to the theory Nazareth fans are any more passionate in their support for their football program than others in this forum.

MWittman - you are partially on point here. The thread was indeed an Aurora Christian winter sports topic - something about both basketball and wresting vying for a State Championship. Thread was derailed on literally the 4th post in the thread by HHS. At some point I re-named the thread. Length exceeded 40 pages.

@Voodoo Tatum 21 has the executive summary and can provide more accurate details.

Post season I was going to re-post the exec summary for Kevin81 as he wanted a sampling of the dumpster fire chaos!

I don't know. The mere fact that the moniker seems to have staying power lends credence to its accuracy, IMO.

MC63: you missed a thread in which I and others laughed and laughed from the various back and forth posts. It was something I looked forward to every day until that mean Edgy Tim shut it down. Can't wait for the summary Voodoo!

I knew the thread revolved around AC's successes, but in which sport programs escaped me in my earlier post. As far as HHS waging his guerrilla war and resuscitating the private vs. public debate, I did recall vividly it was among the first few responses.

40 pages? Wow: I lost interest after 20.

My son and I were talking about this the other day.
I have never seen a thread take so many twists and turns.
From A-C to Bitcoin, to Mom's basement to farm subsidies, to Jwar's weight ..... Oh my .

Legendary.

This sideline intruder / facebook warrior seems like a solid addition to the INP.

Yeah but I think he’s at a different level.

Most posse’s...while easily agitated and aggressive,.. still have boundaries and rules for the gang.

A couple of JCA posters ran off Jchill and he was harmless. This ref/dad? Whoa,...I don’t think any posse wants to claim him. He really might be insane.

That's a key difference between most posses and the INP, though.

pjjp, No one from Naz or associated to Naz represents what one idiot did to stir up the pot. I agree that for a while the INP was a real thing given many years having to earn respect and maybe some at Naz felt like it was overdue, but seriously I look at the posters across these threads and think Naz fans are no different than any other represented fan base. Each has their own few that are defensive and sensitive, those that are even keeled, and then those that like to stir the pot. Naz is not in exclusive company yet they still get their "Posse" moniker. Aside from the ridiculousness of the Simeon suit can we move on to talk about the 7A finalists?

I echo what @Gene K. said - I looked forward to the Dumpster Fire thread every day. Let's face it, there isn't much to talk about on a HS Football message board in March (unless you go off topic).

And that is what made the thread so interesting as @redmen85 stated. The twists and turns of topics was downright bizarre - and delightful, all at the same time. I think this was a guilty pleasure for us men - not unlike "90 Day Fiance" is for my wife.

The next time you find yourself scoffing at the terrible reality TV show your wife is watching - stop and ask yourself, "is that her Dumpster Fire thread"?

My only wish is that at this point @Voodoo Tatum 21 ’accidently’ loses the dumpster-fire-thread summary and does not post it. Just let it be legend, our own “we used to walk up a hill in 2 foot of snow both ways to school” story, remembered and passed down by its participants, growing grander with each re-telling.

The summary would be like seeing your favorite Hollywood actress without make up.

It (the recap) definitely does not due it justice. It is very watered down and a lot is missed and won’t be understood by those that did not live it!! I’m guessing it would be like reading the cliff notes to a great novel. No way does the cliff notes due it the justice it deserves.

Hey @RockSoup - your post only confirms two things for me...
#1 - you totally missed the Dumpster Fire thread when it was burning.
#2 - you never read the Executive Summary.

However, I swore I called you out and tried to drag you into the Dumpster Fire thread. Perhaps you were in off-season mode and not keeping up with the Edgy lifestyle.

Wait a few weeks. The Dumpster Fire summary will be up and I hope you can glisten some humor from it.

I think the only post I made during the dumpster fire thread was around page 3 or 4 where I posted something to the effect of “just posting so I can be a part of this” or “just posting so I can get the alerts”.

I didn’t engage but definitely was on the edge of my seat devouring every twist and turn, waiting for the 3 or 4 posts to come that would initiate the special edgy flush.

My wish to @Voodoo Tatum 21 to keep the records sealed is not because I didn’t enjoy every craptacular post. I just think it builds it up even more by not releasing, sort of like what Geraldo Rivera should have done with Capone’s vault. Remember that build up, then the special and now no one talks about it.

Dude - you are hilarious!
Veteran move, indeed.
Glad you kept your eye on the thread. "Craptacular" is a perfect word. It's almost synonymous with "Dumpster Fire".

I imagine Edgy at his computer with his finger on the flusher on more than one occasion - but graciously walked away and allowed us to carry on with the nonsense.

God I miss that thread!!!! It’s the best offseason tomfoolery imaginable!!.

Voodoo - the fact that a thread had enough content to chronicle an Executive Summary... Simply unprecedented.

Another thing I liked about the "Dumpster Fire" thread was the fact that some of my favorite posters would randomly weigh in. Getting a comment from MWittman or Feeto out out no where was great.

We even had Edgy drop a meme or two into the dumpster fire! Early on within the first 20 pages before he had to put his hand on the flusher. When Edgy dropped “the apocalypse now” meme around page 30-33,.... I knew the end was near.....

Can we make informal wagers as to whether the next dumpster fire evolves from a thread talking about the previous dumpster fire or something else?

Good money is on a solid private-public debate with antagonists on both sides.
