4 out of last five years, BRUUUCE also first round.
yes, 4 out of the last 5 years we have had a number one pick and it looks like we will have the most players ever in the NFL. At some point when to WVU fans start asking for more wins with all the talent?

So much for the brain dead thinking that Dana can't recruit.

I think some fans are down on Holgrosen because of his win/loss totals. I for one like to see The Mountaineers conference record improve, 4-5 is not very good. The Mountaineers are more then capable of getting into the top 3-4 in the Big XII. As for recruiting i believe Holgrosen and his staff have done a very good job.

Agreed, really it comes down to the lack of having a big-time pro type QB. Dana just has not developed the QB's the way he has needed.

Geno and Trickett developed well under Dana and despite Howard being limited, Dana has done a good job adjusting to his capabilities, jmo.

I always felt losing Ford to injury and transfer was a pivotal moment for Dana. If Dana could have kept and developed him, we'd be looking at a 3 year Senior starting QB running the system.

Ford was never muture enough to play or compete. If not for Ollie that one never ends up in Morgantown and it have been better if he had never come because we could have recruited someone else.

That's all news to me. I don't follow recruiting. I thought Dana was big on him. Either way, we needed a QB at that time to invest in.

So the new definition of wvu football success is how many first round draft picks a coach gets? How far does the DH lover crowd stretch the non logic rubber band before they figure it out...it is about who wins and who loses for goodness sakes! When he wins...wins consistently...and does it with whatever players he has then he will be a good HC. Until then...not so much.

Do I think Dana has done a great job? No I think he's been a C+ to B- coach for us. But I find myself constantly defending him because some of you guys act like he's the worst thing that's ever happened to a football program.

Just curious...where does C+ to B- come from? Really. I know...because wvu beat Clemson once upon a time in the Orange Bowl...with the prior coach's players. Or maybe it is his losing record in the Big 12. Nope, got to be his ability keep a coaching staff together. Wait, might be his play calling...yeah that's a grade enhancement.

you have defended Dana from day one because you think he is cool. I have read you description what you think a D1 coach should be and lets say the old school approach of work hard, toughness, and blue collar are not it.

come in to work at 11:00 with flip flops, a hip beverage in you hand, and shades on. the laid back California look. That is not the image of D1 football sorry.

What exactly is a hip beverage?

Its just more evidence of underachievement WVU tied for 2nd in this years draft for putting players in Nfl from the big 12 and can't even finish above 500 in conference play. Big 12 didn't exactly have a great draft year again. So much for we can't do better than 7-5 regular season where in the Big 12 now theory

The pro Dana crowd has had a difficult 6 months.

1. Big 12 football had a difficult bowl season
2. Dabo Sweeney said after the Orange Bowl against WVU that they found WVU had more team speed and depth.
3. 4 out of the last 5 years we have had a 1st around draft pick
4. 2nd most players drafted in Big 12 vs 6th most wins
5. Big 12 tied for 4th with the ACC for most players drafted in 2016

Does anyone know the order of Big 12 teams regarding number of players drafted? That would tend to affect the validity of the rankings of recruiting classes four or five years ago, wouldn't it?

So WVU tied TCU for second with 5 drafted as Baylor had 6. However, Baylor and TCU each added two of theirs in the 6th round while all five of WVUs came in the first five. Interesting, to say the least. I seriously doubt if WVU tied for second in the appropriate recruiting rankings.

I'm thinking that the DH lovers are on the board of directors of Red Bull...or at least own stock. Gotta be the reason.

Since 2013 the 1st year that Wvu players participated in the NFL draft as members of the big 12 we have had a total of 14 players drafted which places us 2nd only to Oklahoma in that time span. Oklahoma has had 20 players drafted in that time period. Baylor is 3rd with 13 players drafted, Tcu is next with 10 followed by Texas at 9, K State with 7, TTech with 5, Okie state and Kansas both have 4 and Iowa state is last with 3. These numbers don't exactly endorse the we can't compete because where in the Big 12 now theory. In terms of NFL draft talent Wvu should be competing for big 12 titles. You can search all draft picks by school on this site it hasn't been updated for the 2016 draft yet

[Three Big 12 football players were chosen in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft to give the Conference 79 all-time first-round selections. Twenty-three more were taken in the remaining rounds for a total of 26 in 2016 and 554 overall picks since 1997.]

Woohoo, that's almost as many as tOSU had this draft alone. ;)

All that talent and they didn't even make the playoffs. Doh! :(

I'd still like to see a link for this. You usually say things that aren't true, so i am skeptical of this.

Since 2013 the 1st year Wvu players participated in the NFL draft as members of the Big 12 there have been a total of 14 Players drafted. Only Oklahoma with 20 has had more in that time period. I suggest you take the time to actually look things up before you suggest that a fellow poster is making claims that are untruthful
