Any buyout would come from us fans as it is...
ticket sales, merchandise, food n drink on game day, donations, k-fund, etc...
If everybody was going to pitch in $300 more dollars for something i'd rather it be to help lure a top coach and staff, not a bail out for MB...
If the athletic department wants to write the check to oust CMS and then announce that they need additional help, from the fan base that already gives enough, to go get a top HC and staff with P5 experience, then I'm in for writing a check.
One thing UK brass will always have, that allows them to drag their feet, is the fact that Kentucky fans are so loyal not only because of a natural devotion and caring but also because UK fans don't have a lot of other options.
Lexington swells to the most populated city/area in the state on game days. The whole state comes in.
Florida does not pack up the family and go to Gainesville. Gators will show up in force if things are going well, but It's a more segmented state. Seminoles go to Tallahasse, Canes go to Miami, UCF and USF go support their team. They do not show up and support one another, and all of them have other things to do should things not go well. Disney, the beach, pro sports, etc. There's also a significant portion of the population who are from other states who don't give a hoot about any of the home teams.
In Kentucky, WKU and EKU fans are UK fans and they will both show up for UK game days. Heck a good chunk of UL fans will cheer for UK all but 1 game a year, and pack up the family and head east for weekend if the cards are out of town.
USC can fire Kiffin 5 games in because people in Los Angeles and California in general have other things they can do.
Same goes for a lot of programs in states where the demographics and loyalties are a lot different than UK and where the fans have a lot more ways they can spend their money and weekends.
Long story short, we can holler all we want, but in 4 weeks we could very well 3-3 and once again pacified with mediocrity and the faintest hope of a bowl.
MB knows all of this. All CMS or any UK coach has to do is beat 3 cream puffs, 2 bottom sec opponents, and sneak in a pleasant surprise in the form of UL or a mid level SEC. Do that and it's a fever pitch in the bluegrass, MB can raise ticket prices, K-fund minimums, corporate box prices, etc...
