To be honored tomorrow! Been too long, those guys really deserve it!.

What a great and mentally tough team. We were dead to rights against WVU in the elite 8, but these guys fought back. Pretty sure wvu broke a ncaa regional record with threes in that game. I know at one point they were 16-21 in threes. Glad to see they are finally getting some recognition.

I remember the WVU game. Didn’t they have some 6’11” tattooed guy that was shooting 3’s out of sight?

GO CARDS - BEAT EVERYBODY!!! God Bless America!!!

Well deserved. I thought they might wait until the 20th anniversary. I always regret not being able to see that FF game while it was happening. Just heard about it later after the game was over.

Yes it is, the full game, with all timeouts and breaks cut out. Man, after years I went back and watched it and it’s just amazing we won with the way wvu shot, Garcia fouling out, and Dean battling cramps.

Ah that game! I remember it well. I am a wee bit superstitious and that year when the wife watched games with me, the Cards won. That day she had to go somewhere (don't recall where), and the Cards were getting it handed to them. I called her up and BEGGED her to come home. She did and BAM, the comeback was on and we won!

Of course she wasn't allowed to leave again for any game but it didn't matter because the superstition was busted against Illinois in the final 4. :(

I actually watched the WVU game maybe a month or two ago on youtube. Pretty amazing, when the Cards started putting WVU on the FT line they stopped hitting their shots.

I also noticed Otis George made some huge plays including a pretty deep jumper with a few minutes left. Larry O and Taquan really carried that team to victory that day.

Uh, in due time. And what difference does it make to a NON UofL fan? Only a NON UofL fan would ask such a ridiculous question.
Somebody's attempt at being cute,as my mom used to put it. They can't just get behind their own team,a team that's playing well right now.
Pretty pathetic Ty.

Watching highlights of that game reminded me of how good Palacios was.
Didn't he have a pretty bad injury the following year that affected the rest of his career here?

I've never forgotten us coming back to beat washington in the elite 8. they were killing us and we made this awesome second have surge to pull away and win. and what i remember most is either pregame or during halftime they did a focus segment on Coach romar and how he took his team bowling the day before to rellx his players and have fun not realizing that throwing a 15 pound ball fifty or so times and bending deeply at your knees holding that 15 pound ball might strain and weaken muscles the next day. washington's players legs gave out in the second half and it was 100% because romar took his team bowling,. and imagine you being a great shooter and now your fingers are sore from holding the bowling ball and you are trying to adjust. basically the worst activity if you have to play the most important game of your life the next day. because i know when i've gone bowling after not doing it for awhile i am sore in places i haven;t thoguth of. i'm sure the players all felt a different kind fo sore. and thus romar was never heard from again as a coach. he blew his chance. they had us beat and their legs gave out.

Washington was actually the sweet 16, but yeah that was an awesome game. They were the one seed and probably had the toughest bracket considering we should have been a 2 that year yet we were a 4 which forced them to play us in sweet 16.

Speaking of bowling, my middle finger is still messed up to this day from bowling. That was a pretty dumb decision to take his team bowling the night before.

Cards were up 12 vs Washington @ the half, not sure they were ever killing us though? UofL handled them from start to finish pretty much. In retrospect it was a loaded Washington team. They had Brandon Roy and Nate Robinson. But we had a great team that year, were way under seeded.

Washington had that player that danced and shimmied so long in the starting line up announcement, our player walked back to the huddle instead of shaking his hand. Can’t remember who the players were, but it was hilarious.

Punk *** Ronda (yes Rajon Ronda) poked him the eye.
He wore glasses/goggles after that.

Hours before the pairings were announced, i was listening to a National radio broadcast. Perry Clark who used to coach Tulane said that UofL would be a # 4 seed !
I was like, this clown is crazy. The Cards were ranked in the top 10 or 5.
Had a record of 29-4. Thats a 1 or 2 seed. He was right. Must have been an inside tip.
I believe that fueled the Cards fire to get to the Final Four.

I think you're right. I'm not sure when the "computer" analysis kicked in, but I believe due to UofL's SOS the computers just hated the Cards resume that year.

I know seeding is not easy, but that team was probably a 2 seed. Maybe a 1 seed maybe.

I remember that WVU game what a great comeback I remember O’bannon getting hot in the 2nd half. The names of the WVU players it was like listening to characters in a Winnie the Pooh cartoon. Harebare,Pittsnoggle and Beeline.

Can you elaborate. I am open for education Z!
I don't know anything except that, to my knowledge, the relationship between Dr. Lynn and the University hasn't much changed.

It would be analogous to the questions raised if John Schnatter hosted the team in his suite (if he still has one...)

So is honoring this team and Lynn hosting them in his suite some sort of way of mending fences between the school and Lynn?

Not a clue about today's events. All I know is what people who know Mark Lynn say.

Has he given U of L any new money lately? He seems to have plenty for other worthwhile recipients...
