With all of the talk the last couple of weeks on how ND didnt have to play JCA and NAZ, was wondering who gets lucky next year? As I understand it, the conference is on a rotating schedule every two years. Does anyone know what the schedule looks like the next two years. I know its early but just curious.

No Marist vs ND next year? Too bad, thought this year was the birth of a great new conference rivalry! Maybe the IHSA will pit them against each other in the 1st playoff round again...

Not that I am trying to push him out at Loyola, but if he is looking to make a move to the next level, I can't imagine his stock would get much higher than it will be if they win state this year. You have to strike while the iron is hot.

Well he obviously is one of the best coaches in the state. He is an alum and has an NFL pedigree. The one thing that kills Illinois every year is not locking down in State talent. He should be high on the Illinois AD's list.

Yours is not the first suggestion that Coach Holecek should be coaching at Illinois. It would be great for Illinois, but maybe not so great for Coach Holecek. If you are a college coach rent, do not buy a house. The college coaching life, with few exceptions, is the life a where you keep your bags packed.
At Loyola he has employment at a great school, a supportive administration and alumni, and kids who want to play for him. More importantly it allows him to have a normal family life.

Which job would be more appealing nationally, Loyola Academy or U of I?

Perhaps they should try to finish in different positions next year in the 1-32 seedings.

Haha ok bmw....There are about 10 different 5-4 teams in the 8A bracket and 10 different 8-1 teams....whatever system they used to rank teams after that is probably very subjective. It's no coincidence at all that two private schools in the same conference happen to be matched against each other in the first round.....same with JCA, Marian Central, Naz all in the same quarter in the 5a

The way they rank the teams is not subjective. Its based off playoff points. You get 1 point for every win and for every win each of your opponents has. ND even tho they were 8-1 played McHnery non conference, they missed three games because of a strike. And their conference schedule didnt have JC or Naz. Where as Marist had 5 wins. However, they played MC out of conference. And a strong conference schedule meanig your opponents win a lot of games gave them the highest point total out of the 5 win teams.

IT IS NOT SUBJECTIVE!!!

You can read about on the IHSA site in the Manual for Schools and Managers.
And 5A is not 1-32.

Why would each class not be paired the same way?
ESCC, you are a new member, seriously, go to the IHSA site and right on the football page is the PDF Manual that I referenced. It really does explain most everything, plus if you read that you will know more than 99% of your friends.
As to why 8-7A are one way and the other 6 levels the old way you need to ask the IHSA this is the first year of the 1-32. reasons I have heard are, they wanted to test it and there is less long travel in the big classes as they are more concentrated around Chicago area. Hopefully based upon how it works this year they will include at least 6-5A next year, the longer travel becomes more of an issue in the smaller classes so who knows about those.

...that might keep MC-SR together in a CCL S v. CCL N. split since it wouldnt be just Loyola + permutation of GT/Fen/SI/MontCHS/DLS . You could also suggest the same for Marian Catholic and hope that Wheaton St. Francis goes the other way to the ESCC to fill the even (#8) hole.
