I'd really like to know the criteria and definition used to determine RnR HOF'ers. Should rename it to 'Music HOF' as many artists included are NOT rock 'n roll, imo. Plus, just because you hung around a long time should automatically get you inducted, should it (ELO, Joan Baez, et al)? The whole idea is a bad joke. Rock ' roll at its essence is about rebellion - having a Hall of Fame is 180 degrees away from being 'rebellious'.

The Cars didn't make it again. I guess Rick will just have to settle for second prize (his super model wife). She still looks good after nearly 30 years of marriage.

No issues with ELO. Prog rock, 20 Top 40 hits in their career. I question Joan Baez, she's folk music, but she's famous for being Dylan's g/f briefly, being a professional protestor in the 1960's, bisexual and is a feminist icon because of all that but has she ever done rock music and what is a famous song of hers?

Since no rock music has been recorded since the early 1990's, the only option is to find old acts to put into the hof.

Pearl Jam is the only one truly deserving, the rest were good to very good major leaguers . . . but HOF material?? Not IMO.

Looks like Howard Stern's brother. Looks like him and has a hot wife.

Maybe "Diamonds and Rust" or "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down"?

Looks like another class that hits the right "diversity" marks. Read what is going on behind the scenes in the nominating and voting process. Sounds to me like a select few on the board, especially Jann Wenner, have the final say. The goal is to maximize the audience for the dinner/TV Show and attendance at the Cleveland Hall & Museum.

It has nothing to do with rock anymore. I gave up on the R&R Hall of Fame when ABBA (pure pop) was inducted back in 2010.

"The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down" is a cover of the the Band's song. She shouldn't be in the HOF for a cover IMO.

There are some rock/heavy metal acts still out there but much like old style country music it has faded into obscurity due to the saturation of pop/rap music on modern radio.

Pretty much agree, Mommas and the Poppas got in primarily because of two songs, Monday, Monday and California Dreaming. Is that all it takes to make the HOF? Sort of like voting Dwight Gooden into the MLB HOF because he had two or three great seasons early in his career, but hardly put together a long successful career (which should be the standard)

I mean is there a bigger money grab piece of crap rip off that this place has become. They should have just had a music museum, not HOF. Rock and Roll is rebellious. I mean did the yardbirds really deserve to be in the HOF, I understand they gave us Clapton, Beck and Page in succession but these guys were going to become big regardless.
Should have had section of Blues pioneers, 50's era, 60's, 70's era etc. No HOF, I mean Journey is fun and most of those guys originally were Carlos Santana's band in Woodstock like keyboard player and year later Neil Schon was in on Black Magic Woman days.
The HOF gives inductees 2 tickets, no bringing friends or kids, any ticket you want is 10,000 bucks. It is a sham.

Calling it the Rock and Roll HOF is a disgrace.

Putting Tupac or any hip hop group (not band) in it is a disgrace a.

Bill Monroe (nothing against Bill Monroe)
Donna Summer
the Jackson 5
Madonna
and so many other non rock performers. WTF.

Plenty of fantastic rock has been recorded and performed live, but it hasn't been mainstream for a while. Occasionally an Alabama Shakes or Blackberry Smoke gets some pub. There will continue to be underground rock and eventually the industry will decide to expose it again. It's more sad to think how stupid the mainstream has become. I mean, really stupid.

I kinda assumed that there was/is a rock and roll scene, I'm just not in tune with it. Terrestrial radio is all pop, country pop, and classic rock. There seem to be a few hard rock stations around, but no just straight ahead rock. I don't feel that I should have to stream music or listen to sat music to hear it. It should be easier.

When I want newer rock, I tend to listen to TX Country radio. Not much country about Reckless Kelly, Mickey and the Motorcars, Blackberry Smoke, et al. Of course there are country elements but have you every listened to the best of the Stones? There's country roots in a bunch of their best songs.

I refuse to acknowledge the RnR HOF until the MC5 FINALLY gets in. The Michigan/Illinois branch of the Mack family filled me in on the awesomeness that was Detroit in the 60s/70s. It wasn't just Motown, brothers and sisters!

There is some drama this year for a few of the bands inducted. Will Steve Perry show up and sing with Journey? Not as much drama there because current lead singer Arnel Pineda said he would gladly step aside to let Perry sing in Cleveland.
ELO is touring with two separate groups doing their music (Don't know why you would see ELO without Lynne).
Yes is two separate bands as well with Howe, White Downes and Sherwood touring under the Yes name and ARW touring with Anderson, Rabin and Wakeman. I think most of them will show up but Wakeman told the RRHOF to go F themselves. He wasn't coming and the other keyboard player Tony Kaye sued the current manager for ARW so he may be at odds as well.

Best thing about the RnR HOF is that Blackberry Smoke got mentioned twice in this thread.

Tupac and Joan Baez both get in the RnRHofF before The Doobie Brothers and Johnny Rivers..Nile Rodgers gets in but Chic does not. I didn't care for Disco music but Chic had one the best lineups of any band of that era..Nile Rodgers on guitar, Bernard Edwards on bass and Tony Thompson on drums..They played some serious funk grooves and how many rap songs stole the beat from their song Good Times..

Little Feat, The Smiths are better than half the **** in so far.

Tupac? Really?
The only reason The Smiths are not in is because Morrissey is insufferable and they weren't huge in the States. The Smiths will get in within 5 years anyway because they WERE that damn good. Just wait until Oasis becomes eligible...that's gonna be fun!
