All 3 Naperville schools have pretty tough non-cons

Sandburg has a pretty tough schedule being the only school in the SWSC to have the Big 3 in addition to LWC & LWW. Then top it off with Curie and Lyons

There are some Inner City Conference Schools with openings.I wonder what happened? Also I thought Harper was supposed to close & go with Robeson & Englewood? The new Robeson school not opening up or no football?

Couple of comments...first, the IHSA can drop the I-8 small from the conference list, since they have all 10 members listed in the I-8 category.

Second, I didn't realize Milford was dropping to 8 man football...They just opened a new school building, and the coop appears to still be in place...I'm guessing the Vermillion Valley is in serious trouble...

Third, I hope Seneca feels happy becoming the second largest school in the Sangamon Valley, with 120+ more kids than Clifton Central, Momence, Watseka and Iroquois West...and 20 more than the Dwight/GSW coop. I feel no sympathy for Paxton getting blown out in the first round of the playoffs when they chose to stick with the 2A schools instead of leaving with St. Joes, Monticello and Tolono Unity a few years ago...May Dwight & Seneca continue their playoff droughts...

That said, it is likely only a matter of time before the SVC and VVC end up merging, sending the 3A schools searching for more appropriate opponents...Schlarman' longstanding coop with Hoopeston is just a travesty for such a storied program...

ESL non-cons include Massillon (Washington), OH, Trinity STL and Detroit King.

Also, Belleville West plays O'Fallon two weeks in a row - one from MO the other in IL.

STL CBC opens with two SW conference teams - O'Fallon and then Eville.

A couple questions for any JCA fans in the know regarding the 2018 schedule. Last year, JCA went up to Geneva in Week 1 in what I thought was the first game of a 2-year contract. The two teams are not playing this year. Was the JCA/Geneva matchup a 2-year contract? If so, did Geneva back out of the deal this year? If so, I notice Geneva is playing Notre Dame in Week 1. ND beat JCA 34-0 last year and return the ESCC Player of the Year (Ty Gavin). Also, both of their lower level teams were undefeated in the conference. Seems like an odd choice (if Geneva decided not to play JCA this year). They added a team (ND) that projects to be better than JCA.

Geneva's overall schedule is significantly upgraded this year in the Dukane Conference. When I heard they were not playing JCA, I assumed (maybe incorrectly) that they wanted to schedule a more winnable game in Week 1.

Maybe the conference switch did something?

Watseka & St. Anne coop experiment apparently has ended...Warriors probably didn't get enough talent out of it to make the move to the 3A/4A border worthwhile, and they probably weren't making the neighbors too happy...

Yet Milford & Cissna Park coop is still in place...and the Bearcats are going 8 man...

Wondering when the River Valley Schools take a shot at starting coop programs between themselves: Beecher-Grant Park, St. Anne-Donovan...Dwight & GSW are too intertwined right now to suggest GSW and Tri-Point try it...Might Prairie Central try a Tri-Point coop since they are under 600 kids 4A and the Chargers are only about 100 kids...Or if Miford's numbers are that low why they didn't invite Donovan...
