so i really only drop in on rivals boards for college football chatter. this one for home cooking and the texas version for updates on the enemy . their resident expert predicts at least 8 maybe 9 wins this year. i'd like to think he's looking through burnt orange glasses but he does provide a fair amount of practice observation to his analysis. so if i'm being objective (as much as possible i admit) and run through their sched....

Maryland ...W (mainly because the terp program is in freefall)
Tulsa..........W
USC............L (i know its at home and no Darnold but i can hope right? good measuring stick anyway)
TCU............L (frogs have owned horns lately)
KSU............W (mildcats down this year)
OU...............L (think we gonna be pretty good)
Baylor..........W
OSU............W (pokes QB is weak link)
WVU............L (even though its Austin)
Tech.............W
ISU...............W (because its Austin)
Kansas.........W (not twice in a row)

so that's 8-4. maybe ISU upset could swing it to 7-5? lets hope

Always legendary on Longhorn Network...a stumbling bum when it comes to actual football play...changing QBs like underwear. They should be improved but not much. Just another bait fish in the Big 12 pond.

By DKR standards, Texas is clearly mired in mediocrity over the past decade....but in the past 5 years they have given OU all it can handle. I expect the same this October, even though I believe OU is substantially better.

Don't disagree. Texas plays their bowl game in the Cotton Bowl every year. The problem for the Horns is that bowl game is on the second weekend in October.

why are we discussing Texas? They aren't worth the effort
Because Texas is OU's biggest rival, even during this time of mediocrity by Texas.
But I do think there's too much concern with Texas failures, especially in light of the closeness of the last 5 games against Texas.

It’s a race between KU and shorthorns to see how many inept coaches are hired then fired after former OU assistant coaches got fired by them. KU seems to have edge on guys producing zero for their pay. Losing to Nicholls has to be the official bottoming out of that loser program.

Unless it's one of the blowout games you referenced, it usually seems like OU plays tight in the RRS while UT is a lot more relaxed. It makes no sense because, my lifetime, OU is usually the better team.

I think OU's high expectations are often the reason they're tight, while Texas has had nothing to lose.

maryland was a 13 point home dog and look what happened. so can we agree tx is still rebuilding or reformatting or whatever. are we now thinking 6-6? 5-7? heck 4-8 doesnt seem crazy. are we for sure they'll even beat TU? at this point Kansas is the only lock on that sched
