Early guesses on the top 5 or so scoring leaders in the conference?

Cole Anthony, Vernon Carey, Wynston Tabbs, Xavier Johnson come to mind for me now. This will probably change come October.

Is Cole Anthony that good a scorer? I haven't seen him play. I have a sneaking suspicion Moore will be our leading scorer. What's the buzz on Joe Girard up there? That guy can certainly score. I wish we had gotten him. Is he going to play football too?

I don't think Girard is going to see that much playing time in his freshman year. Boeheim and Carey are going to start. Time will tell with Girard. The competition that he played against in high school was not that good. Let's see what he can do in the ACC. Not sure on the football question.

Cole Anthony is all unc will have as far as an elite scorer, so he should be UNCs top scorer.

Don’t forget Nwora, Chris Lykes and Brandon Childress. Lykes and Childress are dabbling in that only option territory and Nwora may be ACCPOY.

But I know what you’re doing. You’re gathering intel for your fantasy league you sly dog.

@dukehokie, I am always gathering intel! I am also a big ACC basketball fan. Points scored are only part of the equation in the fantasy league. Assists, rebounds, and turnovers are also important.

I like talking to basketball fans in the conference, but I get most of my serious info from beat writers that cover the conference.

Summertime sucks for me because I am a longtime Orioles fan and I need some sort of sports fix to keep me occupied.

Yeah, I forgot to mention Nwora. Childress and Lykes are also good calls.

I'll check in again in October.

Has UNX had a league leading scorer with Roy? I think he plays too many people to allow that to happen. Other than Hanstravel of course.

The Pittsburgh guys are good breakout candidates due to necessity. Statistically speaking, I’d stay away from anyone at VT unless Blackshear comes back. It’s really unfortunate Buzz left when he did. The transition didn’t make Babcock’s life any easier. Landers Nolley may have a solid “freshman” year.

The way the vt fans turned on Buzz is embarrassing...screw them I hope they don't win a game

We know, you hate Tech and the people who support the school haha. Noted.

There’s more to that behind the scenes, not saying all the fans knew. It was a mutual split, just bad timing.

And quite honestly Tech hasn’t seen success like that in basketball. Of course it hurt.

That's an fair assessment. I think UNC will be a 1 trick pony next season with Cole Anthony. Also, I think Duke will have 1 player scoring in the top 5 in the ACC. Vernon Carey is going to be a beast in the post.

Predicting Duke’s top scorer this year seems more difficult than usual. We don’t appear to have a single guy likely to reach 20 ppg. I do like our chances of having many double digit scorers. This will be a team effort on O.

I certainly wouldn't discount him. Carey will be a monster. I expect him to be our top scorer, I just don't know if he'll get enough minutes (stamina/fouls) to consistently play 30+ minutes. Obviously a lot harder to be in the top 5 in the ACC in scoring if you're playing 25-29 minutes.

I could see Markell and McGowens much higher on that list. But i like it.

He took them from dumpster to a place most jokies have never seen in their lifetime...he then decided he wanted to go home(like most would do in this situatiom)...them the jokie fans turn on him....like he was suppose to stay there just for the fans...nevermind about his personal life and family...as long as fans get what they want that's what should happen

Hope they fall back into the cellar

I like this list. Don't forget "Fresh" Kimble(UL) and Michael Devoe(GT). I think that Johnson will be NCSU's leading scorer.
Do you think that Tre Jones will average more points than Wendell Moore?
TJ Gibbs may have a good year also.

Ok bud. I guess that’s what happened haha. Not sure how that’s any different from the general fan feeling in every other fanbase when a good coach leaves for greener pastures. We’re both pretty biased in this discussion so I’m guessing it won’t go very far haha.

I go back and forth about Tre’s scoring. K has mentioned Tre needs to score more, I just know there are two main areas he needs to improve, shooting and finishing at the rim. Will he be able to do that over one summer? We’ll see.

I could definitely see Markell Johnson and Trey McGowens being higher. Not completely sold on Kimble. An effective fg percentage below 47% is concerning; I wouldn't want him to be a high-volume shooter on my team. Same goes for Gibbs.

I'm expecting a big-uptick in Tre's offensive production, possibly in the 12-15 ppg. Wouldn't be surprised if Wendell has a higher scoring average. I think the scoring distribution for Duke will be much more balanced next year. The difference between our leading scorer and our 4th leading scorer might only be 3-4 points next year.
