The Twitterverse is reporting that Matt Nicholson, a 6-11 center (might be 7-0) from Clarkston, Mich., has been offered by the Cats. His recruiting blew up this spring when Xavier and Creighton offered.

I've seen him play in person a lot for his high school, which is one of the best teams in Michigan. He's grown as a player over the past year. He isn't going to stretch the floor from what I've seen, but he can play. I wouldn't be surprised to see him take a redshirt year.

Many thanks for the update.

He looks to be fairly athletic and nimble. Moves/runs well. Uses both hands. Very intriguing prospect.

Kid hails from the same area as new assistant Borovich. Hopefully JoeBo can deliver.

Here's an entire game from January. I haven't watched it. Troy is historically a strong program but last year wasn't the best opponent to judge Nicholson by. Fletcher Loyer's brother, by way, is on MSU.

Clarkston is a solid program. Dan Fife, father of Dugan (Michigan) and Dane (Indiana, current MSU assistant coach) led them for years. MSU's Foster Loyer and Thomas Kithier, who was forced to sit out his entire senior year of high school, are two recent products.

And I thought NU had sparse crowds.

Along with Taylor Currie, who just transferred from Wisconsin to Mott CC, and Dylan Alderson, who's at Toledo after leaving Milwaukee when Pat Baldwin took over. The Kithier situation was regrettable but avoidable; I put the blame squarely on the parents.

Fife's a legend. It's amazing how many kids grow up in that town with solid fundamentals, the ability to shoot and an understanding of the game by the time they're in high school.
