When it was looking like he would pull off the win I was thinking way to go Old Man but then it dawned on me when they said he was 50 that he is my age.

Players like Phil, Ernie, etc. had the unfortunate timing of playing in the same era as Tiger. Like Weiskopf, Miller, etc. had playing during Jack's era.So Phil has 6 majors now?
What if he didn’t have the yips and had tiger’s nerves of steel - any guess how many he’d have?
Phil has got it hanging down to his knee. That looks like it's right out of Me, Myself and Irene.

Probably not the greatest post after a great, one for the ages win, definitely not one I would have made. But now that you did, he has finished 2nd at the US Open 6 times. Absolutely blew two of them. Up 3 with 2 to play in 06 at Winged Foot, and was up at Shinnecock and took at double bogey 5 on the par 3 17th. What made it so painful is he 3 putted from 5 feet. But the Winged Foot was a total collapse. On 17, instead of 3 or 4 wood, hits driver and yanks it onto a tent and landed behind trees. His 2nd shot, instead of punching out, tries 8 iron over the trees, hits tree limb, bounces back to him some 60 yards from his previous shot. 3rd shot, he fried egged it in a very tough bunker. The rest is history.
Also he absolutely played lights out in 2016 at Royal Troon. He was fired a bogey free 65 in the final round. Unfortunately, Henrik Stenson had the round of his life, shot a 63.
If you put yourself in contention enough times, you are bound to lose a few tough ones. If Tiger had not lost majors to YE Yang, Michael Campbell, Rich Beem and Francisco Molinari (who was and is a really good player), he would have broken Jack Nicklaus' career record.
I would argue that Phil should have no less than 9 major wins right now. As mentioned above, Winged Foot and Shinnecock were given away, and Phil set a record for this biggest margin between 2nd and 3rd (11 strokes) at Royal Troon when Stenson was out of his mind in the final round.
I didn't say he choked. I said he should have no less than 9 major wins. That's just a should have, don't read into something that isn't there. How can you say a guy choked, if that is what you are implying, if he beats the rest of the field by 11 in the British Open? Hell, he can't go tackle Stenson and make him play bad.

That is so classic. In the sand & rough at the same time & he's figuring out what will be a great shot. Should be his picture in Golf Hall of Fame.
So what if he'd been trampled to death by the crowd? Who would be the winner?

We are all agreeing. A few he let slip away, even choked a couple, and we all agreed on Royal Troon. As I stated a few post up, Phil fired a bogey free round of 65, which usually when leading in a major, hell any tournament for that matter, he just ran into a buzz saw, Stenson was 2 shots better and shot 63. Unheard of the 2 leaders shooting 65 / 63 in a final round pairing in a major. That was one hell of a back and forth finish. They stood toe to toe and traded amazing shots. The absolute best final round pairing I have ever watched and it is not even close for 2nd best. How can you say a guy choked, if that is what you are implying, if he beats the rest of the field by 11 in the British Open?
