and the 4th was truly amazing

guy hits a homerun but just foul...takes an umpire review to confirm......ok foulball..... next pitch deep left center home run

During the studio show, Pedro Martinez said it is pretty common to trash talk opposing players in the locker room. He said when they did it, they'd pop open some beers and do the talking after the media left so it was kept between them. I guess Arcia wasn't told about that part of it.

Which leads to the question, is there any leadership on the Braves? It seems pretty simple for someone to grab him by the shirt and tell him to keep his mouth shut while reporters are in the room. At the bare minimum, the manager or one of the coaches should have done it.

Lack of leadership could also explain while they laid and egg last year and are on the verge on doing it again this year.

That's what I always heard. But is there ANYBODY in that locked room now with the sense God gave a mule?

More than that, I haven't seen any fight in those boys. None. Philly is INTO this series. They're rooting each other on from the dugout. They're picking each other up. I see one team that WANTS to play in the World Series and one team that doesn't.

I guess my point is that Freddy Freemans are few and far between. Some players are pure winners, Frank Robinson, Bob Gibson, DiMaggio, Rose. Eddie Murray was great with Baltimore. Ripken wasn’t capable of the kind of leadership you’re talking about, to be honest.

In one of his position rankings Bill James chose Stan Musial over Ted Williams in left field. “You pick Musial on the bases, Musial on defense, Musial in the clubhouse, and Williams only with the bat in his hand. And Stan Musial could hit a little, too.” Julian Javier named his son Stan after Musial.

James was always fiddling with his formulas and of the five or six different rankings of his I’ve seen this one was the only one which had Musial over Williams. Just saying.
