A bit delayed but the Cats split a DH yesterday. Lost to Toledo in the first game. The second game was much better as NU won 11-1 with Danielle Williams pitching a complete game. She gave up no earned runs. Struck out 6 and gave up 5 hits. So it looks as though DW is getting back on track as she has pitched well her last few times out whether she is starting or coming in to close out a game as a relief pitcher. That should bode well for NU this season.
DW and Cami Henry look like they might be a good tandem pitching this year.

Thanks! I followed both of those games online, and was glad to see Danielle beginning to round into form. Also, Cami was a great pickup in the grad transfer market.
Great finish to the 2nd game of the DH as the Cats walk-off Auburn on a two run homer by Jordyn Rudd in the bottom of the seventh. Lauren Boyd came in relief of Henry and Supple and pitched shutout ball for 3 plus innings with 7 K’s and only 1 hit.
Defense played well also as Shellmeyer threw out 2 runners at the plate in the third Rudd threw out a base stealer at 2nd. Good day for the Lady Cats.

Cats do it again. Hannah Cary with the walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth for a 8-7 win against Minnesota to open the BT season. Lauren Boyd with the win in relief of Danielle Williams. These Cats fight till the end.
Will see if they can get the game in tomorrow as rain is expected.

According to the NCAA RPI rankings beginning today Minnesota was ranked 32nd. So a nice quality win for our CATS today.
Here is the preseason poll. NU was #1, followed by UW and UNL. Minny was #8.
Boyd with the win. Outcome ever really in doubt. 'Cats had 10 hits to 5 for the Gophers.
Another encouraging sign was that DW did not pitch at all today and we got two well pitched ballgames with Boyd and Henry giving up 1 run in each game.

Boy, what happened to DePaul. Not too many years ago they were a softball power, even making CWS. Now it's 20-0.
