Ricky Fowler coming alive in the U.S. Open. Long way to go yet but good to see him and his game really starting to come around and would be great if he won the U.S. Open this weekend.

I can’t believe these scores… I thought 3-5 under would win the whole thing! WTH do I know!!
See what happens if/when this course dries out as forecasted. I think you will see many come back to par. If it takes several days to dry out scores are going to be low especially for a U.S. Open course.
LA Country Club is not a U.S. Open Golf Course. The winner here is going to be -20 or better. That’s not the US Open golf. Can’t wait till they go back to Bethpage and/or Shinnicock.
The more I watch the more I agree with you. The softness of the greens, these guys are eating it up. The rough is brutal but the fairways are wider than I thought.
Fairways avg. 43yds wide. Ridiculous. There are regular tour events where the fairways are not that wide. This certainly is not the “toughest test in golf.” Pebble would never allow the fairways to be cut that wide.
That girl knows how to handle a pole. Those thighs could squeeze the air out of most men.
And a 300 yard par 4. C'mon man. This isn't US Open golf
Was standing behind the tee box on 15 when Burns made the ace. Couldn't see it go in because the front bunker is just high enough to block the view but the people in the bleachers had a great look.
The weather situation didn't help promote US Open conditions. The June Gloom was around all day and held all the moisture in plus there was very little penalizing breeze. Add in the wide fairways as mentioned above and it's going to be a lot more scoreable than other Open courses.

I'm starting to agree with a lot of you, this isn't a US Open course.
Maybe the USGA should try to mimi the R&A ... have a fixed number of courses from which they rotate the US Open from year to year. There are now 50 courses that have hosted a US Open (actually 54 but 4 have since closed or been modified), pick 9 or 10 from that list that are the most challenging and rotate around those courses.

Saw the head of the USGA Championship tourneys interviewed this morning. The weather is the obvious wildcard. They were hoping for dry, sunny, winds when they don't have that this course gets easier. Add in the tee's were up yesterday (today they will be back) with soft greens and fairways it was target practice for these guys. They need sun and this layer to burn off and quickly to dry it out. My question is if Los Angeles is known to have June weather like this why have it at this course if June dates are only available for the U.S. Open.
The USGA is, in fact, moving in that direction. They are going to have a rotation of courses in key states, which will include Merion East, Oakmont, pebble beach, pinehurst #2, Bethpage, shinnecock, and Winged Foot, among others.
Typical US Open fairways are 30 yards wide . IIRC these can range up to 40-60 yds wide. Fairways hit are in the range of 55% for the field and here about 65%. While the rough can shut you down , there is plenty of rough that’s long length not too thick in many areas . Been enjoyable to watch with the strategies out there , but obviously not the typical even par wins grind .
I like the late night live golf for us East Coast viewers. But the Northeast seems to have the best combination of courses and weather for the US Open in June .
