Christian Pyles on Flo live this morning seemed to indicate he was aware of a very good , high caliber wrestler who might to transfer to PS. The only weights I would think would be 141, 149, 157, or 165, assuming RBY is coming back. Let the speculation begin....

More likely Betancourt is insurance for Howard's shoulder.
Question for me is, will he be eligible to compete right away? If I'm not mistaken, he's already used his one free transfer.
Not sure f he ever enrolled at Lock Haven. WrestieStat shows his school as "Unattached" for that year.
Yeah, that's the piece that is unknown to me. He certainly verballed to Lock Haven while in high school. I don't know whether he signed with Lock Haven and later transferred, or never signed and later enrolled at Ohio State, etc.

They did not. See other thread for interview with Betancourt. I think this is about adding depth and competition at 125. Steen was only 5-5 last year. And as some have suggested perhaps Howard bumps to 33 if RBY doesn’t return.

Me too, though I'm waiting to see the transfer portal. If Iowa can get someone at 2 out of 133-141-157, they're probably 2nd.
The big loss for them is DeSanto. Everything else balances out vs 2022 team points with Lee and Kennedy incoming.
OKST lurking. Only 2 AAs this year, lineup won't underperform like that again, plus Ferrari and Wittlake were out.
I don't think RBY is leaving. Steen, Bentacourt are depth at this point.
This is a very solid lineup on paper. But if wrestling was done on paper, the Tan Man would have great success.

Is Woods really coming?
I have heard from my long-time athletic department sources that it is looking very positive for RBY to return next year at the 133-weight class. The NIL initiative is part of his decision.
Would Bartlett stay at 149 if Woods transfers to PSU? If Bartlett stays 149; what is the ripple effect to the lineup?

I heard the same thing, albeit with the caveat that info from this source is always 100% PSU-optimistic - which is understandable given it is an AD source. Occasionally, they've circled back to me and said, uh yeah, that didn't go as planned.
I was told directly that the NIL initiative for RBY is coming together. My source has always been a straight shooter and will tell me things that I do not want to hear.
