And now this … I clearly need a life 🤪

Who remember Melanie Belcomb? She came here for one year to be in charge of offensive analytics and we won the national championship. I'm not saying hire Belcomb, but lord please help Dawn find a coach with an analytic background. Dawn had the best roster in the country last season, by a mile, and still managed to put underwhelming lineups out there at times. There's no shame in looking for assistance in determining your best lineups. Analytics can help.

People are giving Mulkey way too much credit, she's a great coach but in no way is she poised to run the table. Their NCAA tournament run was fairly lucky for the most part. As a 3 seed they had an easier path to the Final four than we did. I give them props for taking advantage but I'm wouldn't be concerned.

The players that got them to a championship are mostly gone now, Jasmine Carson, LaDhazia Williams and Alexis Morris are all going pro. LSU will be a fun challenge but the SEC still runs through SC.

I remember when she was here. She's currently a HC so doubt she's interested.

Dawn won't have any problems filling this position with a very good coach.

Have no insight on assistant coaches but wonder if she would like to keep a male coach on staff? I would be looking for someone who is good with bigs and can also recruit!!!

People have forgotten that Baylor went 40-0 and won the national title in Brittany Griner's junior season. The next season they returned all 5 starters and lost in the Sweet 16 to Louisville. So Mulkey doesn't always win the tournament when she has the best player and best roster either.

That being said, I give Mulkey a lot of credit for this season. Honestly, I still not convinced LSU is all that good and yet they won 6 games at the end. There was definitely some luck involved and I believe Mulkey even said that.

But here's the thing: the only active WBB coaches who have won national titles are Dawn, Mulkey, Geno, Tara and Brenda Frese. So it helps to be lucky AND have a very good roster year in and year out.

When Mulkey took the job at LSU, I said it was better for us she came to the SEC because she could just as easily win national titles at Baylor. Having LSU as a conference rival in addition to UCONN and Stanford puts us at the center of the WBB world. Let's embrace it.

Dawn, Boyer, & Jolette all following Aneesah Morrow on social media. definite interest being shown. Hopefully we can get her on campus for a visit.
Found this regarding Morrow. Raven is quite the recruiter. This girl can play.

2. South Carolina

South Carolina freshman Raven Johnson was another one of the many women’s college basketball figures to follow Morrow on Twitter after her transfer announcement. It could just be a friendly coincidence or the beginning of a recruiting ploy to get Morrow to Columbia. South Carolina head coach Dawn Staley has been complimentary of Morrow in the past, calling her a “beast” after she recorded her 20th consecutive double-double as a freshman. Falling short of back-to-back national titles this past season may be enough for Staley to lure Morrow to the SEC.

A poster on TOS reporting that Te-Hina Paopao, Oregon JR G is visiting this weekend. Not sure of our chances because of distance but she must have interest to be visiting. This would be a very nice pickup. This is a write-up from ESPN. “The junior point guard, with two seasons of eligibility remaining, has an all-around game that could really improve any roster looking for a scoring point. This past season, she averaged 13.1 points, 3.3 assists and 4.2 rebounds per game but the stat that might draw the most attention is her increased 3-point percentage. She shot 42 percent as a high-volume 3-point shooter (more than five attempts per game). Paopao has had injuries that caused her to miss significant time during her freshman and sophomore seasons, but she started in all but one of the games for which she was available for the Ducks, so her experience level is high and even in those seasons, she was named All-Pac-12 first team.”

with Fletcher gone, we need a backup for Raven. Not sure Coop is ready
Just my opinion: I think the staff would love to add a Tiffany Mitchell/Allisha Gray/Zia Cook level shooting guard from the portal. But I haven't seen anyone that good in the portal and there's no guarantee she would come here if someone that good was out there. The alternative is to pick up a quality point guard, of which there are several in the portal, and move Cooper to the 2.

I apologize for this being a bit dated but I didnt realize this was causing such a stir. IMO this needs to be dealt with. It's giving the appearance Mulkey is above the rules. The comments are pretty funny. Like the "flamethrower" one.

Thats been an every game issues that seems to never be dealt with. In the game against us, she almost set a screen on zia cooke in a play herself. I dont know how she seems to always be there witt no issues.

Not too surprising but that's also Harper's only recruit from the past two years. She better hope this portal works out.
23 Zero recruits
22 Justine Pissott portal 1 season 54 points
21 Sara Puckett 2 seasons 385 points
Karoline Striplin 2 seasons 230 points
Kaiya Wynn 2 seasons 120 pts
Brooklyn Miles portal 2 seasons 100 pts
Marta Suarez portal 2 seasons 160 points
20 Destiny Salary portal 1 season 48 points
Tess Darby 3 seasons 472 points

8 recruits in 4 years. ONE 5* 4 transferred out
no one in this group has averaged more than 7 points per game during a season. Darby averaged 7ppg this season

Looks like they might have picked up someone. Have no idea who or if this is a portal player

Might be Dominique Malonga 6’6” a French HS player who has drawn interest from a number of top US programs including UCONN.

this is only a wild A$$ guess

Coulibaly is from Mali which was a French colony. So maybe???
Texas A&M says she is coming there "according to sources" they say. Will see I guess. I am just curious who Dawn is focusing on. There are alot of good ones out there. I would love to get Morrow from Depaul and then I would be good with Betts maybe or Donarski since she is grad transfer. We dont want to fill up scholarships with long term transfers or else we wont be able to get many recruits next year and rumor is we are looking at possibly having a phenomenal class and are way high up with at least 4 of top 10 players

Remember when Lou Holtz caught a lot of grief for allowing Kenny Irons to transfer to Auburn?

Times have changed. Transferring within the conference is no longer a big deal.

OOC Schedule for next season???

Already set

UConn Home
Clemson Home
Notre Dame neutral
Charleston Southern Away
UCLA Away

Dawn has already said the Stanford series will not be renewed. Might this change?
Do we double up when we go play UCLA?
Are we renewing with Maryland?
S Dak. St was a “neutral” site game but do we go again or get a return from them?
Dawn always schedules a HBCU
We did not go to a holiday tournament next season?
Does the ND count in the total games allowed or is a freebie extra game

I thought the return trip to UCLA was actually set for 24/25 ... I could be wrong though
