There really may not be a spot for Strong on this team.

indeed. with PB & AG now returning and two 24 recruits committed, they are now at 14 for next year. definitely looking like a talented but very clogged roster. plus with Geno’s propensity to only play 6 or 7 most nights, there may be some mighty long faces on that bench next season. I still think he has the ‘talk’ with Bettencourt and DeBerry and one or both transfer out to free up some space. but if that happens, and Strong signs or another transfers in, they are right back to an oversized stuffed roster. time will tell.

What's her height again? Is she our Cardoso in waiting?
6’5 / 6’6 with an impressive wingspan. energetic and plays with a high motor.
I think she‘ll backup the 5 next season on somewhat of a minutes restriction (like LA in her Frosh year) coming off rehab and getting acclimated to the college game. expecting her to be a bigger part of the rotation sophomore year and on

I just hope the leg does well. Thanks.

Couple of additional thoughts re the UT game, then on to UGA.

This game reminded me so much of the UNC game. On the road vs a capable team that played good defense. One distinction, was that we beat UNC by making 6 of 11 3's. But, we struggled in both of these games to find offensive rhythm. Won both games in the second half.
Score v UT: Halftime - 25-28. Final 66-55
Score v. UNC: Halftime - 26-29. Final 65-58

Props to KC. In a 12-day span she played a game here, flew to Brazil, played three games there against professional players, flew back to CAE, traveled to Knoxville, and played a game there. So, 5 games and two international flights to/from another hemisphere in 12 days. She still had 18 pts, 10 boards, and 3 blocks and with Dawn's game management played the entire 4Q.

This trip sounds worse than a Braves West Coast swing. No more whining from the Braves' tribal chat leader. If she can do it, you can do it, Bobby Boucher! :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:;););)

It’s a small world….. was at a close friend’s house to watch the UT game. He was asking about analytics and power rating sites. I said I really liked Massey. He perked up, “Ken Massey? Yeah he’s a good friend. I ate lunch with him at least twice a week when I worked at Carson Newman. If you want I’ll introduce y’all, in fact you may have already met him at my wedding.”

If I'm being honest, I believe Muhl and Edwards are leaving the door open, but I believe they're both leaving. I feel like "We're not done" has more to do with this season.

But if the rumors are true about Sarah wanting to play the 3 then I don't think UConn is the move. With Edwards likely gone for the WNBA and Paige often playing the 4 defensively for this team already, they lack experienced post players. Strong will be regulated to the paint based on the current roster makeup.

Yeah, I was about to post my hot take that Edwards returning would make UCONN more formidable than Bueckers returning. I'm not saying Edwards is the better player, just saying UCONN will have plenty of point guards and wings next year. Not much experience returning in the post.

But I think Edwards is probably gone. She's Canadian, so she can't enter into any NIL deals. Same for Muhl, I assume. Muhl was pretty emotional last night. I think she's gone for sure after this season.

Wait Canadians still don't profit from NIL?

Any breakdown of Georgia? Haven't watched them this year. Their record is bad but that doesn't always tell the story.

Thanks

"We're not done" probably means this season, which is true. They're not done. Muhl seemed really too emotional last night to be returning. Honestly, she has her detractors among UCONN fans on social media. I could actually see her play a 5th year somewhere else.

I have one comment about the Tennessee game before moving on to UGA. I've seen fans saying we played our worst game of the year against UT. But we should never forget basketball is played on both sides of the floor and I thought our defensive effort against the Vols may have been the best of the season. Tennessee shot a season low from the floor, and they have been on fire the last couple of weeks. Steffi Sorenson named Spear and Jackson to her "Starting Five" just last week.

I don't mean to put the lack of offense on one player, but a lot of the problem was Bree having the worst game of her career. She had the favorable matchup against Puckett and didn't deliver AT ALL. However, much to her credit, she hit the 3 that proved to be the dagger. There's ZERO quit in her. I expect her to rebound against the Dawgs.

About Georgia, they haven't had a losing season since 1981. At this point, it appears that streak is going to come to an end. Coach Abe has 4 top 100 recruits coming in next season, so the future looks bright. Right now, though, things are pretty bleak. Looking over the advanced stats, it's hard to identify an aspect of the game that Georgia does particularly well. They are 4th in the conference in free throw shooting. So all those fans who obsess over free throw shooting, Georgia is your team. But shooting free throws well doesn't mean much if your team struggles in every other area. They have some bigs who can rebound defensively well enough (5th in the conference), but, besides Javyn Nicholson, they don't score very much. Nicholson is their only player that would see rotation minutes for a top 25 team. She's a solid post presence who's capable of giving them a double-double, but not likely to have an explosive scoring game. Foul trouble could be an issue for her tomorrow. In almost every other category, offensive and defensive, Georgia is in the bottom 3rd of the conference. Add those numbers up and that usually means last place.

I want to see our team bring the defensive intensity we saw against Tennessee. The Dawgs **should** have a hard time scoring. Also a chance for some of our players like Bree and Paopao to work on their shooting touch. Georgia plays a matchup zone, so I'm looking for Chloe to get the ball at the free throw line and make some good decisions with the ball.

The picks

UT✔️@ Vandy
A MUST win for UT. With almost certain losses at LSU and the Gamecococks if UT loses today they will not get a double bye. It’s at Vandy but UT prevails

Miss st @ OM✔️
Must win for state in their drive for double bye. OM can lose and probably still get double bye because of weak remaining schedule.

UGA @ Gamecocks✔️✔️✔️
Gamecocks put on a show for GameDay and break consecutive games win streak that used to be UT’s. 43 and counting.

UF✔️@ UK
Must win for UF if they don’t want to play on Wednesday at the SECs

Mizzou at Arky✔️
I don’t think Arkansas can play bad enough to lose this one BUT they have proved me wrong pretty much all season

Auburn @ Bama✔️
An Auburn loss and they could be battling with UF to escape a Wednesday game at Greenville. Bama is too much

Monday
LSU ✔️@ A&M
Really hoping A&M puts it altogether like they did vs UT. It would be a fulfillment of their talent.
Unfortunately I just don’t see it happening

After doing some heavy investigation I’ve come to the conclusion that Georgia is a team that sometimes struggles to score more points than their opponents. That point aside, they’re actually a very good team.

You’re welcome for the breakdown!

(This is a joke, please don’t get angry)

I can't find anything on the status of Enydia Rogers. If she doesn't play, A&M doesn’t stand a chance.

It's clear the team's best lineup is the one that played the 4th quarter against UT: Raven, Paopao, Cardoso, Watkins, Hall. Dawn's determination to play ever lineup except that one in the 1st half is infuriating. Yes, they can comeback against UT and Georgia, but it won't be so easy against an Ohio State or UCLA. Just like it wasn't last year against Iowa.

Team seems tired and unfocused. Lot of pressure to remain unbeaten.

Gamecocks played a more inspired 2nd half versus Georgia, and won 70-56. Out-scored the Bulldogs 42-21 after halftime, and out-rebounded them 24-13, and held UGA to 28% FG shooting. Cardoso led the way with 16 pts, 16 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 blocks, and 3 steals. UGA was led by Javyn Nicholson, who scored a career-high 27 pts with 12 boards. But she only scored 9 of those pts after halftime, and was 3-10 from the field. A combination of her getting tired, plus stiffer defense against her.

The Gamecocks are starting games a bit too sloppily, sluggish, and too loose. Their great talent and depth allows them to surge forward in 2nd halves, but as many have said here, against the better teams that could be our epitaph. And we'll be facing the best of the rest later this season, to be sure....

Nicholson scored her 27th point with 2:20 left in the game. It was UGA's 50th point. Some announcers will never get that our defense is not about shutting down individuals but, you know, limiting the number of points the other TEAM scores. Crazy concept, apparently, but it leads to a lot of victories.

You are right for the most part. Watkins played too aggressive on defense today, got in unnecessary foul trouble. She was absolutely lost in how to play against the matchup zone. Of course she was not alone in that.

Kitts is not Watkins but she understands how to play high post offense better than Watkins. In the third quarter DS used the right combo for today. Check the shot chart out EVERY basket we made in the third quarter was 3 feet or closer.

In the first half we rarely penetrated their zone by using the high post. We made some 3s, and fell in love with the outside shot.

The adjustment on offense and the much better on ball D turned the tide
