Does anyone have the latest intel on Khalia Hartwell, the 6'5" post player from Anderson's Westside High School? I just read the Anderson-Independent Newspaper which stated she got her first SEC offer from Mississippi State. I thought Dawn had already offered her a scholarship. I do know that she has camped at Carolina.

Hey all,
ND continues to just kill it. Got a 2025 commitment from Leah Macy out of Kentucky. She is #14 in the class. And NO she is in no way related to Kyle Macy.

When is the last time we had an early recruit?

Janiah Barker and Maryam Dauda are the two big fish left. If I remember correctly Barker was the last top recruit in her class to commit. Some things don’t change

Bama picked up a nice mid major, Christabel Ezumah from Campbell. 12 & 8, she is a 6’2” senior forward

I often wonder with all of our success why we never seem to get an early commit. Don't get me wrong I'm always happy with our class but it would be nice not to have to sweat it out until November :/

Joyce Edwards and Maddy McDaniels will be there which makes it seem that Maddy’s injury was not as bad as we feared. Surely she would not be invited if she could not participate?

Thanks!
I would think Joyce is a lock to make this team. I mean she made the U19 team last year. She was the leading scorer on that team and she has just killed it in the two all star games recently.

Maddie has a tough path. At least 6 other PGs in this camp. That is a lot of competition. She is one of the taller PGs along with Heckel. I imagine versatility to play the 2 will help.

I am intrigued by who will chosen to play post. Lot of 4s and stretch 4s but really only 3 true post players. Blanca Thomas whose stock plummeted as last season progressed. Sienna Betts, who is 6’4” and a top 5 recruit for 2025. Lastly Me’Arah O’Neal who is a wide body. Her recruitment was hot and cold. Lot of schools that needed a post player didn’t offer including LSU.

The 4 spot is so loaded I could see the coaches selecting only one true post. Choosing higher talent and athleticism over sheer size.

I enjoy this podcast, it’s primarily on Tennessee WBB. I think it’s worth a follow. They seem to be down on both UT’s talent and on hand players being able to run Caldwell’s system. It gave creepy flashbacks to Darrin Horn Coming here.

It’s only 2 games, but Caitlin Clark is clearly having to adjust to her competition. Not bad numbers but very inefficient and she doesn’t take care of the ball.
16.5 ppg
10-27 on fgs 37%
7-22 on 3pt 31.8%
5.5 rebounds per game
4 assists per game
6 turnovers per game
+5 per game

I think those stats indicate the increased arduousness of the pro game versus the college game. The reason I mention that is because, in order to gain credibility, the WNBA game needs to be understood by the public as clearly superior. I don't think that the general public has appreciated this and that acceptance of the WNBA has lagged thereby.

Anybody see the Omaha Production of "Full Court Press" on ABC yesterday (and concluding today)? An in-depth look of the 2024 WBB season focusing in on Caitlin Clark, Kamilla Cardoso, and Kiki Rice. Very good documentary with lots of behind the scenes footage, surprisingly including a lot in Kamilla's home town in Brazil and how she grew up. Very emotional in parts to see the sacrifices she made to get to where she is now.
Highly recommended.

That's awesome. But some of y'all who don't live close to Black Mountain likely have some of these guys a lot closer to your neighborhood than you think.
Black Mountain? You want a lot of black bears, try Erwin TN, Gatlinburg TN, Roan Mountain TN...It seems metro Asheville is trying to promote they are the capitol of black bears and how cutesy it is there. We've been living with black bears for many years in Tennessee and we've never hyped it....

When I think of Black Bears, I think of Dolly and Gatlinburg. Not Black Mountain, Weaverville, Asheville...lol

Taters picked up another portal piece today, Mia Moore, a 5’6” guard from UAB who averaged 15 ppg.

Poppie has brought 8 players into Pickens county. 6 started at their previous school with 5 averaging in double digits and the other being a distributing point guard. Only Dis Loyal McQueen is from a P5 conference. Another was the 6th man and averaged 8ppg.

Count me as impressed that he got anybody to come to a school that has had arguably the worst team in P5 over the last 20 years.

Next season will be a grand experiment in how does good not great mid major talent translate to a P5 conference. These are kids that were not thought to be P5 talent or came from odd places and fell through the cracks.

It’s one thing to play up a level 3-4 times a year and rise to the occasion. How will this group respond to having to do that in 18 ACC games and 2-4 P5 OOC games?

Kiki didn't get cut, so I assume she made the final roster. But I'm no expert on the WNBA.

Yeah basically it means she should be good for the opening day roster. She technically still can be traded or cut in the early part of the season if they see it necessary but this is her first time on roster since pregnancy which is a huge deal.

Following the new reel on the wnba league pass page, the word from the Pheonix beat writers is Kiki is now considered one of their top 8 players and should expect to see considerable minutes throughout the season
