Report: Penn State basketball picks up Croatian 7-footer
According to a report from Jonathan Givony, Penn State basketball has landed the commitment of a 7-foot center from Croatia.
I like that he has good foot movement around the basket, fluid and he can shoot with both hands. Strong potential there.
I thought he was out of eligibility? I didn't know he was in the portal.

Shouldn't we soon know who Rhoades will pick up in the portal? PSU currently has 10 players (9 w/o Konan) and 5 of them are freshmen.
Why does anyone care? If you do just spend the money and buy a team that wins. There are no excuses for a program to be so mediocre.
"There are no excuses"...it's a zero sum game. If it was as simple as "just buy a team that wins", then every team would be winning, right?
I care because I'm a Penn State fan/alum, especially a fan of Men's Basketball.
I've got to believe that Rhoades has been talking to several prospects. I read that players have until today to withdrawal from the NBA draft. In other words Rhoades will soon know how much NIL money is going to be available for new recruits vs Konan.
I wouldn't even hazard a guess at this point ... I mean, we got Josh Reed. To quote Charles Barkley .. that's tuhribble. That's what we got earlier in the process when more kids were available. I wouldn't doubt anyone who said we're only going to get D3 talent from here on it, anymore than I'd believe anyone saying we're in on a single guy who can provide any decent Big Ten quality minutes. If you look at a certain site's transfer portal tracker, it seems like barely anyone is left ... scroll through and there's like 20 kids in a row that have committed elsewhere, then one random dude still uncommitted ... then 20 more that have committed, and so on. I don't think there's much out there.

I would not have thought it possible at the end of this season.
It certain hurts the team for next season.
Hurts this year, though I didn't think much of this upcoming season even with him. The glass half full is that he hopefully gets drafted, and we can be out on the recruiting trail pointing to our big man development taking a role player from a lower-tier MAC school and turning him into an NBA draft caliber guy in 12 months.
I don’t have high expectations, but he has a pretty good highlight tape. I can’t address the level of competition, but from my perspective, he looks somewhat athletic, can dunk easily, willing to drive to the basket and has a decent drop step shot. Who knows how he will fare, but hopefully he’s more than the Icelandic guy we had.
