Free agency starts in the NFL on Wed., March 13, @ 4 pm EDT.

Teams have been making decisions about tagging players, cutting players, etc. in advance of the start of FA.

Going forward, please use this thread for any announcements about players that are cut, players that are franchised (I think that process is completed), players who agree to restructure their contracts, and then free agent signings. (Philadelphia Eagles discussion will take place in the Eagles thread.)

They traded their extra 5th and 6th round picks in this year’s draft for JJ. Very low cost for JJ when last year the Broncos were demanding at least a 2nd round pick for him. How many 5th and 6th round picks ever become stars or even competent starters at skill positions in the NFL? Yes a few have, but it is extremely rare. So if JJ has a mediocre to lousy year, nothing is really lost. Anything better, it’s a good trade. Some of you obviously don’t know anything about draft capital and value if you make fun of this trade.

Now the Watson trade is another story. Just a terrible decision where they way overpaid for a shiny object that has not even come close to the production they were expecting.

clearly Watson, who got injured early last year and finally packed it in when the doctors told the Browns that a further injury could hurt his long term career because it was his throwing shoulder. Word is, they are going to sign Flacco as a backup.

Watson hasn’t looked like the same player since his sabbatical and he isn’t getting younger.
