Truer words never have been spoken. PSU basketball = Groundhog’s Day. Let me guess: Izzo was complimentary to Rhoades and PSU basketball after his 100th or whatever win against them. The whole thing is a joke.You want to say "If they can play like this the rest of the way...", but you know they won't. At the end of the day it's just another loss. It's almost impossible to go 0-20 or 0-18 or whatever it is though, so at some point they will accidentally win a game in conference. I'll go with 2-18 or 2-16 or whatever it is, that sounds about right. This is not enough to fire this coach though because at Penn State the men's basketball coach always gets 9 years to make the NCAA tournament

Pitt is a below average team that has lost to every legitimate team that it’s played except for OSU at home, and they needed a last second shot almost from half court to win that game. However, it’s almost a certainty that they’ll play like Duke against this PSU team.

I looked at the OOC schedule and honestly don’t recognize a couple of teams.

In all seriousness, this basketball program is as bad now as it’s ever been. It’s really not a D-1 caliber program.
It’s Penn State and it’s basketball. Most Penn State fans are fine with the fact that they’ve gone downhill since Paterno stopped coaching the team in ‘54.

You know, Wisconsin doesn’t play baseball, and most of the Big 10 doesn’t play hockey. If this school isn’t going to get serious about this sport, which starts by paying big money to a coach who is going to serve as a magnet for recruits, even if they’re one and dones, then this school should stop wasting money on this sport. When Pitino was ostracized, he would’ve been a great choice. And considering that his next job after his scandal was Iona, do you think he wouldn’t have taken a Big 10 job in the Northeast?
The current coach, who’s in his third season, has done nothing to move this program forward. There is absolutely nothing to indicate that he ever is going to advance this program, and really appears to be out of his league in the Big 10. This roster is an embarrassment and not even a lower D-1 level roster. This team actually would struggle in RMU’s conference, and that’s not hyperbole, as Oakland only lost at MSU yesterday by nine points.

The current coach basically loses his whole team after every season, so never is in a position to build a program. That’s no way to advance a program.

He did an awful job with last season’s team, which should’ve been much better, and probably should’ve been fired after last season. The problem is that you can’t just rearrange deck chairs on the Titanic; if Kraft is serious about basketball, he has to splash the cash to bring in a serious coach.
Basketball is a sport in which a coach can use the portal to bring in four or five guys that totally could transform a program; it doesn’t have to be a multi-year project. Get a coach who can attract talented one and dones and good portal players, start having consistent winning seasons, and the program will become a self-fulfilling success, much like what has happened at a basketball wasteland like Nebraska under Hoiberg.

When PSU couldn’t take the next step with Carr, Stevens and Watkins, I figured this program was cursed. Used to compare PSU bball and Indiana football, but unless we find someone with Mark Cuban money willing to subsidize the program, this will be a bottom feeder in the BT for years to come.
PSU also has the lowest NIL money for basketball in the league,not sure how you can compete
