Outside of mingo, this might be the worst passing team in the country as well. Anybody that threw a soft arcing pass to their teammate on the teams that I coached, we called that a Jv pass. Well, I’ve counted over 15 of those so far in the first half.
I remember being a student when the BJC opened, and that in conjunction with being in the Big Ten was going to finally elevate the program into relevancy.....
Mingo had his pocket picked a couple of times for layups going the other way. It's a team effort.
The entire upper deck is behind a giant curtain. They are losing to the other worst team by 20 at HOME. The only recruit that could have helped is going to North Carolina and probably taking the only decent player on this team with him. They have won 2 conference games and this is the guys third year. I'm starting to change my mind: The other guys all got 9 years and MAYBE THAT'S THE DAMN PROBLEM.
This guy has to go and frankly it is irrelevant who they hire after him because this is the absolute bottom. A team of chimps can come in and go 2-18.

My point is that in spite of how bad we are we have a couple of young players we can build from. I want to keep Juric & Mingo. I would also like Dillione & Rice to return. Maybe Stewart.
IIRC we started this year with only 2 or 3 players, neither with proven experience. It's a lot more difficult to rebuild when you have to start from scratch.
Washington should be investigated for throwing the game last week, and I’m only half kidding. How in the hell did they ever lose to this team at home?

The Washington Generals. That's us They definitely suck. I just disagree with people who think we can fire Rhoades, lose our entire roster, hire a new coach, and be competitive by picking up a dozen new players in the portal.
P.S. They would have to do it with minimal NIL money. A lot of schools are giving 12% of NIL money to MBB. PSU is closer to 9% because they allocate more to football and wrestling.
Yeah, but he’s the only guy that consistently makes passes that are on time and gets guys in positions to score. He should be averaging two more assists a game than he is, but he’s got teammates that can’t shoot.
Both times it was when he drove into a double team, one of them he was definitely fouled on.
What difference does the amount of NIL money mean when the current head coach couldn’t attract elite players if he had a $100 million to spend? Under his three year leadership, this program went from mildly competitive to absurdly bad and plain embarrassing.
Also, I’m so tired of hearing about the whole NIL argument; that’s just a convenient crutch to rationalize the awful job that this coach has done. NIL has almost nothing to do with being totally embarrassed at home by a bad Rutgers and on a neutral court by an equally bad Pitt.

They are terrible, but this performance also shows you what an awful job the head coach has done getting his team ready to play and how there’s absolutely no leadership on that team; it’s just a complete mess from top to bottom.
This program is just three years removed from a Big 10 Championship Game appearance and a NCAA Tournament win, and that team was coached by a first time head coach. So, the right person can achieve some moderate success at PSU. The current head coach has had three seasons and each one has gotten progressively worse, which tells me that he needs to be relieved of his duties ASAP.
Do you realize how many basketball coaches PSU has had and they've all sucked? But maybe the next one.
PSU actually has had several coaches who have taken teams to the Big 10 Championship Game twice and the NCAA Tournament, and won two NIT titles. Compared to the current head coach, they all were like Dean Smith. By the way, Bruce Parkhill and Shrewsberry had this program headed in the right direction, but the former quit unexpectedly and the latter took the ND job, where he’s failing.
Maybe firing a coach that went 21-10 and could recruit Philly is the problem. This ain't duke.

Yeah, but his record would’ve improved exponentially if he had stayed to coach the 1996 team, and he may have been able to gain some traction and build a solid program like Wisconsin built under Bo Ryan, and then the succeeding coaches could’ve built off of this.
Total speculation. It might have been worse.
PSU basketball improving exponentially????? Not likely.
Any coach that actually improves psu hoops exponentially is going to get a big offer to leave..
