We have a roster that has produced a last place team. No one's spot on the team should be guaranteed. I get the fact that it is not the right move to turn over the whole roster nor should we do that but beyond Mingo there is no one on this team with talent that would say they are a "must keep".
I have a slightly different opinion. Keep in mind that PSU has one of the youngest teams in the country with only 1 senior and 8 freshmen.

I'm pretty high on Juric. John Harrar averaged 2 pts and 2 rebounds as a freshman but 12 pts and 10 rebounds as a senior. Juric is averaging 9 pts and 5 rebounds and has improved throughout the season. I'd definitely go all out to keep him.

Mingo hasn't lived up to my expectations this year but I might have expected too much. Tim Frazier averaged 5 pts and 2 assists as a freshman but 15 pts and 5 assists as a senior. I'd push hard to retain Mingo not only because he has potential but also because we don't have another legitimate PG.

Or look at how Josh Reed has blossomed as a senior. Too bad he's a senior.

Dilione has a very nice mid range shot and he's the only player other than Mingo (and Reed) who can create his own offense. I think it's important to retain him in spite of questionable defense.

I have some hope for Rice. He's big and strong and has a good perimeter shot. I don't know what to think of Mirtic because he's been injured. My thinking is to keep Juric, Mingo, Dilione, and two others so we have a decent core. That leaves at least 5 opportunities to add key players.

I would put a decent bet down that this roster, kept intact, is competing for an NCAA tournament berth in 2 years.
I think Rhodes has a few pieces but will need key portal additions to reach the NCAA tournament in 2 years. My biggest pet peeve is how many offensive rebounds we give up. PSU really needs a strong PF to go along with Juric. We also need a backup PG who can shoot. It would help if Mingo could become a perimeter threat.

But what are the chances he keeps the roster together for two years?

It should not take too much NIL $ for Rice and Dillone. Mingo and Juric will cost some decent $. Some of the others will be cheap to keep - Mirtic, Siani, Stewart. Not sure about Blackwood but he's a keeper. That would leave some decent money for a Big, a power forward and a 3point guard.

But are the willing to stab with a Big Ten bottom feeder?

Dillione has one year remaining.

It's not quite as bad as it looks when you consider that Iowa had 32 opportunities for offensive rebounds, and we only had 16.
Still 32% vs 12%.

Great win, definitely one as a coach you say to yourself, how did we pull that off.

I agree with the core five that were mentioned above and keeping them. Not sure if Mingo will stay or not, no matter the NIL package. Personally I think he’s done more than expected, as he doesn’t have very good teammates around him so he’s shouldered much of the load. I would keep Blackwood and one of the other bigs if possible as well. That would be seven bodies and then they would have to go get five or six in the portal. A three point shooter or two, a scoring wing and another 4/5.

This team is really bad. No offensive strategy except passing around the perimeter. Make that 30-11. They can't make a shot. 33-11. What an embarrassment. Shut it down.

No contest vs OSU tonight. PSU doesn't have a PG with Mingo out. Tunca can't do anything except dribble around the perimeter. No penetration, no perimeter shot.

OSU shot 62% in 1st half. PSU shot 18%.

OSU had 23 rebounds vs 9 for PSU.

OSU had 22 pts in the paint vs 4 for PSU.

A good intramural team couldn't do much worse.

OSU shot 70% from 3 pt range. A lot of them were completely unguarded.

PSU was outrebounded 34-14.

I just checked the team statistics and our centers (Juric, Mirtic, Ciani and Houser) had a total of 25 steals this season. That's one steal per game. So why were we continuing the outside double teams? We double team, our opponent throws 2 or 3 passes and has a wide open 3-point shot.
Just maddening.

Rhoades refuses to change the defensive scheme. The percentage of 3-point shots made by opponents is the highest (worst) in the Power 4 conferences. And Ohio St made 70% of their 3-point shots, unheard of. Rhoades needs to be shown the road out of State College. He has shown how he is cometely overmatched at this level.
