Sparty gets the sweep after another lost puck! Damn
PSU now has lost five games in a row to MSU going back to the playoff game last season. If those teams played ten times, PSU might win one or two games.

The real issue is if PSU’s tournament hopes will be on life support after they get swept next week, and you know that that’s happening. After next week’s sweep, they’ll probably have to win at least three of four of their remaining home games and at least one game at ND, and then win the first playoff series, which they’ll probably either be the third or fourth seed, and maybe even the semi-final series, which either will be against Michigan or MSU, which will not happen.

Your hot takes are just as welcome here as BSD. Your repeated use of “disgustingly outclassed” revealed who you were there. Your knowledge of college hockey is extremely lacking. Your “reality” is a very dark place. Maybe get out of mom’s basement?

—They are a virtual lock for the tournament.
—they are a virtual lock for a top four seed in B1G
— there are no more “series” in the B1G playoffs, just singlengame quarterfinal matchup, single game semi and final.
—they have a week off before Yost. A split would be just fine. This team is in a position where, regardless of what happened today, the real season starts in March.

The truth of the matter is PSU is one of about 6-8 teams who are equipped to win it all. Whoever gets hot or rides a hot goalie will likely be the ultimate celebrant.

This was a text I received from my nephew who attended the game today...... "Pretty poor experience overall at the outdoor game today. Parking was something I've never seen...I think because of just trying to scan thru phones taking too long. We missed most of the 1st period because of the waiting for parking. Even being that late there was still a line up to get into the stadium because of the scanning. Lots of drunks around in the stadium.... I think they really need to layoff the beer sales in the stadium.. more beer stands than food stands... probably 10 beer stands to 1 food stand."

BCS clearly does not know anything about college hockey, yet he thinks he has the hockey knowledge of Don Cherry, but more like Don Knotts.

Right this moment still #5 in NPI. Could stay at 5 or fall to 6/7 depending on other games tonight. BCS talking about tourney hopes. Such a clown.

And barring a major collapse rest of the way, probably the 3 seed in B1G.

BCS is an ignorant negative crybaby troll doing just what I said he would do, post when we lose, silence when we win.

I’ve had him on ignore, but when I saw your response post to him, I had to read what unintelligent BS he was spewing.

Started the weekend as a possible top 4 seed in the NCAA tournament. After getting swept in two close games, PSU is … still a top 4 seed via NPI. The results did not negatively impact the championship hopes at all. Whatever regional matchup they draw will be the ultimate arbiter.

Denver won in OT tonight, but has been trending toward the bubble. If they continue to skate poorly and lose their way out of the tournament, Loveland becomes a much less scary regional. Of course, most fans of the Nittany Lions probably prefer placement in Albany or Worcester to ease travel. NoDak is trending toward a top seed and I’m sure the NCAA would love to place them in Sioux Falls. That would be a very, very hostile environment for any 2, 3, or 4 seed to emerge.

in reality, PSU has five weeks to:

—iron out the defensive misplays and mishaps
—improve B1G seeding
—earn an NCAA top seed (likely by winning or losing the B1G title game
—get smarter about penalties. The kid got tossed in two straight games for grabbing face masks. It’s ok in the last seconds of a game you’ve won, but not in the first period of a titanic struggle. Hopefully the lesson is learned.
— get healthy, specifically Cerrato. Getting Fink back has been great, and the team has improved as the season has progressed. But if we are being honest, we played the first half without a top player, and now we will play the second half without a top player. The top two lines at full health will be an absolute handful for almost every team. That’s what makes PSU a contender.
— pick a goalie to carry the postseason weight. Both are capable, but a decision will have to be made, and the backup will have to accept it and be prepared to step in and bail the starter out if necessary.

^ Great post and still no. 5 in NPI. Western Michigan at no.4 has a tough schedule as well. A top seed is going to be challenging, but it can still happen.

Clean up the things you spoke about and HEALTH will be key. A 2 seed is still very realistic.

MSU and Michigan play next weekend. Will be interesting to see what happens there. Tough ask but let’s see if our guys can put it together after a weekend off and go 7-1 w/split at Yost.

For the thousands (Ok, handful) of you following along to hockey via my overactive thumbs, I will be not be doing constant updates today. My apologies, but it’s

My son attended yesterday. He’s not a hockey fan but wanted to enjoy the experience.
In his words - it’s not a football game, but it was fun and glad I (he) experienced it.
Parking was easy to get in at RV lots.
Easily inside the stadium before the puck drop.
Crowd was good and not difficult moving around.
He doesn’t think he’d do it again simply from the standpoint he is not a hockey fan.
His experience was very positive.

For yesterday’s Beaver Stadium game, what was the verdict on the sh|tters? Did they work? Were the cocktagons heated?

Everybody's experience is different. My nephew attended with his 6 year old son and 12 year old nephew. Some drunks who sat behind them kept falling into the 2 young boys during the game. Naturally this tainted their whole experience. Bottom line......Penn State needs to stop the beer concessions.

Totally understand with the kids and drunks. Disappointing for your nephew and his boys for certain.
I agree with your thoughts on beer sales.

My experience - we were there early and had no problem parking. That being said, the lot was a nightmare. People parking randomly, easy ups in aisles and parking stalls. No one really parking people so there were empty stalls all over the place. If you came late you were screwed.

Getting into the stadium was terrible. It took forever - obviously with all of the headed clothing, big coats, etc. the detectors were being set off. It took us at least 45 minutes to get in. Missed half of the first period.

Leaving was not good. It took me longer to get out than a football game with only a fraction of the number of cars to deal with.

Still cool, but I'd never choose to park in lot 41 or to sit on the east side of the stadium.

Stopping beer concession won't stop the drunk stupidity. People get drunk before they go in and also, being that everyone was heavily bundled up it was easy to sneak booze in. I say many people shooting those little bottles of liquor you can not buy at Sheetz and Rutters. Say a dude drinking out of a flask, also people brought water bottles full of wisky in. Also, no way PSU is going to give up the revenue from the booze concessions.

I attended the game and overall had a very positive experience given the bitter cold temps. Didn't see and drunken stupidity where we were sitting. Nothing out of the ordinary you wouldn't see at a football game. I did notice that it was not staffed as well as a football game with ushers and what not. That being said, I read where some people had a hard time parking and getting in. We did not experience that, parked in one of the garages on campus and zoomed right in thru Gate C about 10 mins before 1:00 when they had the bottom closed off so the visiting team could get to the field. You always take that chance at some of the gates if you wait until the last minute to try to get in. I did notice some people at the gate that wait until the last minute to get their tickets on their phones to scan in that clog up the entrance. Everyone thinks everything should be instantaneous and work all the time. If the internets and electronics go down we are all doomed. I am glad we went as it was cool to be part of.

They announced 74,000+, but I don't agree with that number. I would venture more than a few people opted out due to weather.

Conservatively, I would guess PSU's gross receipts for this event was about $5M - tickets, concession, parking,
