Carter Starocci will face Indiana's DJ Washington in the quarterfinals at 184 pounds. The Hoosier gave the Nittany Lion his only collegiate loss, but the Penn State star has beaten him every time since.

You might mean his only dual loss. He did lose to Michael Kemerer in the B1G finals his RSFR year or maybe the next year. I can’t remember.

It was Carter’s very first match off his RS and Washington tossed him to his back twice from neutral. He battled back but couldn’t close the gap. It was a heck of a way for an all-time great and 4Xer to start their career.

There is a 125lb QF on mat3 right now (Ramos/Rivera) so I think they are doing QF bouts.
Yeah, but they are still finishing first round at heavyweight. Not sure what they will do on those mats after that.

Purdue's Matt Ramos survives a scare at 125 pounds by pinning Nicolar Rivera of Wisconsin in sudden victory. He's into the semifinals on Luke Lilledahl's side of the bracket. The Penn State freshman is on the mat for his quarterfinal soon.

Very nice short time TD by LL with 2 seconds to go in the first on the edge of the mat. Up 3-0.

Make him pay for all the clubbing Luke. Smash him into the mat for the next 2 minutes.

Cruz should have had multiple stall calls against him.

I could see it from my den

Shawver carrying Davis around is funny. He doesn't get any points for it and it just wears him down. That said, Davis tends to get himself into precarious situations.

133 pound quarterfinal: No. 4 Braeden Davis vs. No. 5 Dylan Shawver, Rutgers

First period
A good scramble late in the first period led to no points. Shawver was close to three but did not get it. It's 0-0 after one.

Second period
Shawver picks neutral to start the second period. Davis shoots but Shawver fends it off well as they go under a minute to wrestle in the middle period. Shawver picked Davis up late off a single but couldn't finish the shot again. It's 0-0 after two.

Third period
Davis takes down and escapes quick to 1-0. Shawver ducks in on another good single and lifts Davis up, carries him around the mat, and then carries him off of it. That was odd. Davis ducks in on a great single but Shawver initially rolls through and catches Davis but Davis comes up through the legs as they continue to scramble Davis stays on the leg but Shawver comes around and gets the takedown late, 3-1. Penn State challenged the call but the call on the mat stood. Shawver wins.

Davis heads to the consolation bracket.
