I'm setting this (and all of the B1G Session Threads) the day before the start of the B1G Tourney, so that everyone knows the plans, has the links, etc.

Please use the thread for all pre-tournament, in-session, and post-session discussion for the 2025 B1G Wrestling Tournament.

When:
March 9, 1:00 pm EDT

Where:
Welsh-Ryan Arena, Evanston, IL

Action:
This session will feature consolation semifinals, and 7-th place matches.

TV:
none

Video Streaming:
B1G+, for those that are subscribers

Audio Streaming:
The radio PBP, with Jeff Byers at the mic, will be streamed for free. The pre-Session portion of the broadcast will start at 12:40 pm, with the action starting at 1 pm. To get the PBP via LionVision, go to:

gopsusports.com

Lion Vision

gopsusports.com

gopsusports.com

Once there, click on the arrow to the left of Wrestling Big Ten Tournament - Session 3

Team Scoring:
The best place to track the team scoring is the Penn State Wrestling Club web site. The link for the team scoring is:

https://www.pennstatewrestlingclub.org

PBP:
I should be good for PBP. I believe @GregPickel will be posting results/doing PBP, and anyone else is encouraged to help with that as well. As always, I remind you to please include the score for the match in your posts, or provide some context (wrestler, school, and weight class) beyond just "that's not a takedown." It also helps to give folks a heads up as to what mat a PSU wrestler will be wrestling on. You can usually get that info from Ironhead's audio PBP, from Penn State Wrestling's twitter account, or from TrackWrestling.

It looks to me like they are going to roll through seventh place matches first and then go into Consi semifinals.

Yeah, based on what Track is showing, It appears that the 7th place and 9th place matches will be wrestled before the Consolation Semis.

I'm not sure what to deduce from Track only showing 3 mats

I know this should go in session thread but I was wondering if they will finish all the 125's before they start 3rd and 5th place matches for 133 and etc.

Just trying to figure out best way to watch the 10 PSu wrestlers if they will wait I'll stay on big ten plus stream.

That's all Session IV. I'm pretty sure that they complete a weight class (1st, 3rd, & 5th place matches) before they move to the next weight class. That's what they've done in past years at the B1G Tournament.

All per Byers: They are running three mats in session three. Starting with 9th and 11th place matches (in the weights, the Big Ten qualifies that many weights), and those don't count toward the team race. Consolation semifinals start after that.

Penn State is all weighed in for day two:

View attachment 769158

It looks like they are mostly a fraction of a pound over the nominal weight…

Is there a pound or two allowance for second or third days of a tournament, or later in the season?

IIRC, in high school in the seventies, it was something like an extra pound per month as the season progressed.

So, if I am seeing it correctly, the Penn State Wrestling Club website only allows you to follow their brackets if you are a member? I could see the brackets yesterday before wrestling started, now, I can’t. Is that accurate?

Watching the matches now on the multi-view. 3 mats, no score box on any. They had them at first, then they just disappeared. Hopefully they get it sorted out by the consy semis.

Yes. You can only see them on the website. Memberships start at $35.

I believe it's a pound per day. When I was in HS (98-02) we got two pounds after new years

They were off and on yesterday, too. Not sure what that's about other than assuming technical difficulties.

Yes. You get one extra pound per day. So, on the second day of Big Ten and NCAAs, you can be one pound over. On the third day of NCAAs, you can be two pounds over.

@GregPickel -- with PSU having guys wrestling in Consolation Semis at 133, 141, and 149, we may run into a situation where two of the matches take place at the same time. How about I take the first match (whichever one that is), and if the second one starts before the end of the first match, you take that one? We could also run into a crunch on the 3rd match, but hopefully not.

Van Ness is now in the hole on Mat 1.

It looks as though Davis's match will start first, and that Bartlett's and Van Ness's will be somewhat at the same time. With the caveat that pins, injuries, video reviews, etc. can screw up any projections.

After having their website crashed time and time again by non-members, I’m surprised that they didn’t do this earlier.

What do you mean crashed?
Unusable to anyone in various forms like was happening yesterday before they switched to providing the live updates to members only. They have every right to focus on providing for their paid membership over freeloaders like myself.
