197 Consolation Semis: #2 seed Josh Barr vs. #4 seed Isaiah Salazar (Minnesota)

I'll use IS for Salazar.

IS can be dangerous -- not a wrestler to underestimate.

Per 1
IS in on a single, Barr sprawls, they scramble, and go OOB, with 2:12 left. Barr a little gimpy after the stoppage, and he's on injury time. It seems to be his left knee -- not certain. He's going to continue. IS in on the legs and gets a TD, 3-0. They are stopping it for an injury default @ 1:07.

Barr may wrestle for 5th place later today -- only time will tell if he wrestles or defaults that match.

Ugh

Damn!!! Seems like every year PSU has a guy go down with an injury. Barr’s had a great year and would suck if he can’t compete at NCAA’s.

I'm going to take a break (i.e., step away from the tournament), and get a few things done before Session IV. See you guys later.

Hopefully, 🤞🏻 they just decided to pull the plug on that match and play it safe.
Unfortunately, it looks worse than that. Salazar got a bloody nose at the same time Barr hurt his knee. So the match stopped for blood time. Barr was having issues putting weight on his knee. After blood time was over, he tried to go and it gave out giving up a TD. They stopped it after the TD and defaulted out.

If it’s severe, I’m guessing there was zero chance the staff lets him go out at all. Then it’s just an honest discussion between Barr and staff. See CStar circa 2024.

Agree. Carter’s injury occurred during the last duel meet and defaulted out of Big Ten’s so he had 4 weeks to heal, rehab and prepare mentally. Barr has less than 2 weeks.

I ask because I don’t know.
Is PS permitted to replace Josh with another wrestler, or is that a lost position at this stage?
TIA

If their site was getting overloaded, it was probably in severe need of upgrading.
The site prior to this year looked like it was from West Germany. There was an upgrade to make the appearance more modern. I assume the upgrade uses more bandwidth and cost money. So charge the freeloaders, like me.
