I'm setting this (and all of the B1G Session Threads) the day before the start of the B1G Tourney, so that everyone knows the plans, has the links, etc.

Please use the thread for all pre-tournament, in-session, and post-session discussion for the 2025 B1G Wrestling Tournament.

When:
March 9, 5:30 pm EDT

Where:
Welsh-Ryan Arena, Evanston, IL

Action:
Finals, 3rd place, & 5th place matches will take place in this session.

TV:
BTN

Video Streaming:
For BTN subscribers, you can stream it via the FOX Sports App. For B1G+ subscribers, you can also watch there. (This enables you to dictate which mat you watch, whereas with the BTN TV coverage you are at the whim of the BTN producer as to what mat is on the broadcast.)

Audio Streaming:
The radio PBP, with Jeff Byers at the mic, will be streamed for free. The pre-Session portion of the broadcast will begin at 5:10 am EST, with the actual PBP of the matches taking place at 5:30 am EST. To get the PBP via LionVision, go to:

gopsusports.com

Lion Vision

gopsusports.com
gopsusports.com

Once there, click on the arrow to the left of Wrestling Big Ten Tournament - Session 4

Team Scoring:
The best place to track the team scoring is the Penn State Wrestling Club web site. The link for the team scoring is:

https://www.pennstatewrestlingclub.org

PBP:
I should be good to provide PBP. I believe @GregPickel will be posting results/doing PBP, and anyone else is encouraged to help with that as well. As always, I remind you to please include the score for the match in your posts, or provide some context (wrestler, school, and weight class) beyond just "that's not a takedown." It also helps to give folks a heads up as to what mat a PSU wrestler will be wrestling on. You can usually get that info from Ironhead's audio PBP, from Penn State Wrestling's twitter account, or from TrackWrestling.

Just to update here, bracket now shows Barr has already medically forfeited his fifth place match as expected.

The basketball game is in OT. It’s definitely running past 5:30pm. Any idea where to watch? BT+ only has 3rd and 5th place matches

I would expect BTN to either hold wrestling or cut away from basketball. I don't envision a world where they start wrestling without it being on TV.

Why do basketball teams get sooo many timeouts? And why do they feel the need to unload all of them in the last minute or two of the game? It’s painful.

They did that only 2 (or 3) years ago... wrestling started on time and the only way to watch the first match was on the app or they replied it at the end.

I don't doubt you, I just don't remember that! Interesting. Either way, looks like it should be OK.

The other thing I don't understand is how a BTN+ subscription doesn't get you access to the first place matches. Seems silly.
It’s probably verboten in the fine print of that jock itch commercial contract with the BTN.

125 Final: #4 seed Luke Lilledahl vs. #2 seed Caleb Smith (Nebraska)

I'll use CS for Caleb Smith

Per 1
Both guys are active right off the whistle. That said, no real shots thru the 1st minute. No real shots thru 2 minutes. Luke has been close on a couple of counters. Luke grabs a low ankle gets behind, and gets the TD, 3-0. CS to his feet, stall warning on Luke. OOB with 0:21 left. End. RT @ 0:40 for Luke

Per 2
CS takes bottom. (I think Luke deferred -- not certain). CS up and gets away. RT @ 0:51 for Luke. 3-1. 1 min left. CS reaches, nothing. On the edge. End. RT @ 0:51 for Luke

Per 3
Luke takes bottom. Luke sits out, back under, sits out again, to his feet and he's away. CS sort of shoots, nothing. 4-1. CS barrels in. Angelo with a BS stall call on Luke makes it 4-2. Down to 30 sec. Stall call with 14 sec left on Luke makes it 4-3. End!!!

Luke takes the B1G Championship, by 4-3 DEC!!!

133 3rd Place Match: #4 seed Braeden Davis vs. #9 seed Nic Bouzakis (Ohio State)

I'll use NB for Bouzakis

Per 1
A lof of positioning, but nothing of note thru 1st min. Davis in on a single, and trips NB down for the TD, 3-0. NB up, tripped down, they roll, and NB gets a reversal, and 2 NF, to make it 3-4. Then Davis gets a reversal to make it 5-4. NB comes under and gets Davis to his back, and gets the pin @ 2:22.

Ugh

Davis finishes in 4th place
