Wow. What a horrendous third quarter of self-inflicted wounds. Johnson must be gouging his eyes.

Caleb looks like a bust. The GM should have been fired years ago - he must have dirt on somebody to have kept the job with the Team’s record since he got it.

Honestly, I knew the Bears would have a rough season when they skipped drafting a real LT in order to draft a 3rd round TE in the 1st. 😂

It’s much easier to be a Cats fan, than a Bears fan.
Actually watching the games is pretty similar

Both teams have one good receiver.
Technically the Bears have two. But for several weeks it sure has seemed like I am watching the same game on Sunday (Mon) that I saw on Sat. ( I could add that both depend on hyped QBs that have not really performed up to their billings)

Caleb is light years better than Fields.
Not so far he isn't. He is slow to make decisions, holds the ball too long and doesn't really make people around him better. Don't really see him as a leader. He is still young so there is still a chance.

Of course I was never in favor of using the #1 overall pick on him, I wanted it traded as the year before and build OL and with the returns

You obviously don’t watch Fields.

Nothing really since he left. Watched him at the Bears and there was nothing much around him till Moore arrived. That OL was attrocious Eberfloos was a terrible HC At Pittsburgh he was brought in as a backup but he did pretty well while he was in. This year I have not seen him play

Check out the QBR ratings of Fields and Williams in the fourth quarter of games. That will tell you everything you need to know.

Well here is an ex NFL scout that says he does not think Williams is a good player. This is post Ravens game

"He has not played well, their team has," Middlekauff, once a scout with the Philadelphia Eagles, said of Williams during an appearance on The Colin Cowherd Podcast on Sunday night. "The running back has played well, and the defense has played well, the quarterback has not. How many times today with Caleb [were there] guys in the flat, even on completions they have to stop and catch the ball. There's no rhythm to his game. I think Caleb isn't remotely a good player. Physically, he's got a lot of gifts, but in terms of playing the quarterback position, I think he's borderline not even average. That's a problem."

As far as where he ranks of QBs taken last year based on last years stats he was 4th best after Daniels, Maye and Nix

So far he has shown that he was not worth the #1 overall pick. I would have rather that the traded #1 overall pick and built a solid OL and reinforced other areas with the proceeds

I dunno, he doesn't have to be a bust as a QB, he's just not a superstar. Build up the O, get or develop another strong WR, and let him develop into a decent to solid QB. Build the team into long term excellence rather than trying to draft/hire instant victory imho.

I get cranky with how many teams waste (imho) their picks trying to find the next superstar QB year after year and end up with crappy teams and a line of ex-QBs on other rosters.

Different question.

And that guy thinks the Bears ‘ defense has played well? They rank30th in the NFL in yards play allowed. The turnovers have saved them. We saw on Sunday. What happens when they don’t generate turnovers.

It’s the typical lazy take where most things that go wrong get blamed on the QB. The Bears defense is bad!

The Bears D this year is designed to be more disruptive and they have led the league on getting turnovers

Well, Bears' fans... this may be your lucky week. You will be facing the only defense worse than yours. And, now the Bengals may be without Joe Flacco, taking us back to our turnover-prone, anemic offense with our backup backup QB.

Ok. But turnovers are unpredictable too. When they don’t come, this defense struggles.

In its defense, the injuries in the secondary are devastating. But that front four has been underwhelming.

Caleb is doing just fine for what is effectively a second rookie year in a complex system. The ideas that he can't read the field or that he holds the ball too long are not borne out by the tape or by the stats. (For example, don't just look at TTT, look at P2S, QB responsible pressures, etc.) His primary issues are footwork and accuracy, and those should both improve together as he gets more comfortable.

Jared Goff, a two-time Pro Bowler who was trained by Sean McVay and who had started a Super Bowl, was traded to the Lions in his 6th season and Ben Johnson took over as OC in his 7th. He looked godawful for most of his first season with Johnson, and then emerged as one of the league's best. I'm willing to afford a bit of patience to another #1 overall pick in his second year who spent his rookie year coached by Eberflus and Waldron.
