I am always amazed at some people who freak out during the FA period and think Howie has no idea what he is doing. He has proven himself over and over again in planning for this football team. Does it always work? No but lately he has done extremely well drafting, signing players and preparing to keep this team competitive for the future. Some people need to step back and let things play out. There is a reason Howie has accumulated all these draft picks. He is a product of his own drafting success now seeing all these players sign big contracts. We can't keep them all simple as that. The Eagles are loaded with picks the next couple of years. He will restock and have this team ready to move forward. It's like some of these people listen to WIP saying Howie has no clue what he is doing. They forget it's the off season and WIP and the WFAN are going to say all sorts of idiotic things to get fans fired up and calling in for ratings.

Howie said as much too. When you draft well, you have the good fortune of picking and choosing who to extend.

No matter how you slice it, fans need to embrace for a cycle when all the money on offense flows to the defense to keep an exceptional core of young players there.

They need guys like Lane to retire, sadly. And for one of the WRs to move on when it makes sense to do so. The salary cap forces those transitions.

100%.

right now they have 9 picks in April with comps in 3, 4, 5 and 6. in '27, they're probably looking at their own 7 picks (technically the Jets pick in the 7th instead of their own because of the Howell trade), plus comps in 3 (phillips), 5 (Dean), and two in the 6th (Dotson/Blankenship) so MAYBE 11 picks?

that's as good as free agents for Howie with his recent history of draft picks. I think the last time howie flopped in the offseason was the dream team.

plus, to be honest, I think he's gonna be in the Temu market for DEs. AK, Joey Bosa, Chubb, Epanesa are all viable. With Campbell and Mukuba as decent replacements for Dean and Blankenship (replacing dean scares me), I can see howie saving $$ to put towards 2 of the mentioned DEs, and an outside CB.

More important than the AAV f these deals will be the years and guaranteed money. They have another $95 million per year coming between Carter, Quinyon and Coop. They need bodies for 2026, but have to plan for young draftees to step in for 2027 and beyond.

All the issues we had this past season at CB2 -- this could be a great signing.

I do have some concerns at DE, as pretty much any secondary will be in trouble if the DL doesn't get pressure on the QB.
Ravens backed out of the Crosby deal maybe Howie is going to work to get Crosby on board 🤔

The repercussions for the Raiders could be huge. They now have $30M+ back on the cap the day before the new league year and a day after they agreed to terms with a slew of free agents.

While I think they keep the Ravens center, guys like Nakobe Dean may have to scramble.

I also like the signing. Classic Howie. I think they’ll address DE somehow…most likely in a trade. They can’t afford Crosby (on one knee too).

I'm disappointed in this. Calc can't block to save his life, which wasn't as big a deal 2 seasons ago when the OL was blowing people away, but was a real factor this past season when the OL struggled due to injuries.

I think with the interior DL, the eagles are uniquely positioned to collapse the pocket from the inside flushing the QB to the outside. While DE is really important, i think there could be an argument that you need lane-sound DEs that hold the edge and are athletic enough to run down a QB when the interior collapses. doesn't mean you don't need a stud DE, but i think Smith/Hunt is a really good 1st team EDGE combo. just need legit depth, and that's why i lean towards free agent's instead of a splash signing. at 6'4" 270ish, Chubb would be a great BG replacement. "NASCAR" DE that can stop the run, and move inside on passing downs. then draft a young DE in the second after you draft Lane's replacement in the first. maybe DDS? All of this, pending Carter being healthy all year. I REALLY REALLY hope Davis gets in his ear this offseason and puts him on the same path he got on this past offseason.

low key (as the kids say), i'm REALLY happy they paid Davis. he took a BIG step this last season, is a tireless worker and plays by big-boy rules (is self motivated, makes a plan and has the fortitude to stick with it) not to mention he's a REALLY big character guy. he's the next BG without the trash talk. Vocal leader, leads by example.... love the guy
