By the way, PFF ranked Green as guard No. 76 out of 77 last season.

I am surprised he was ranked that high
That is ok he has been accepted into Stoutland University. He is about to get the tutoring and structure he needs....

As more context about CJGJ's departure has come to light, I think Green was the proverbial "bag of balls" return in the trade. If anyone can salvage Green's career, then it's Jeff Stoutland. But not every scratch-off lotto ticket pays out. The good news is that they have other interior OLs who should be capable of playing at a high level. Green won't likely hurt them if it doesn't work.

If they can get him to a viable back up that is fine with me. Anything above that Stout will just enhance as the greatest Oline coach ever. I think Steen starts this year. Just need a little more consistency from him. He is strong as a bull and moves people just gets a little sloppy technique wise here and there.

Greatest OL coach ever is Joe Bugel. We can discuss further when Stoutland has coached three Lombardi Trophy winning teams. ;)

bugel is good no doubt. Different game and era now. Much more pass oriented. Also Stoutland coached and won 2 national championships at Alabama which Bugel didn't and Stoutland coached what is considered the greatest oline in college football history which Bugel didn't... Stoutland has also coached 15 all pro Olinemen... Bugel only coached 5... ;) both great coaches though ... hard to compare era's.

to the end, Craig Cirbus probably coached the greatest oline in college football history, but he is not in this conversation
Joe Bugel was a good OL coach, but is probably not in the top 5 of all timers.
Jeff Stoutland is a good OL coach mostly because , imo he listened. He listened to Jim McNally. Watch clips here of his first OL in 2013. The reason I think Jim is critical here is because after 2013 Stout went and visited Jimmy and Jim got him straightened out. There are 4 hrs worth of him breaking down clips I wont bore you with, but Jimmy has clips from the Eagles in 2014 , you can see their techniques are totally different, and are what Jimmy is coaching. I think for all of the Stoutland U stuff comes from him visiting with Jim McNally after the 2013. I think Jim taught him alot. I dont have first hand knowledge of this, ftr, just what I see in these tapes.
So Jim McNally may be the best. Alex Gibbs may be the second best. He and McNally split on one main issue, and that is keeping your head of it. Gibbs still wants to put those 3 screws in the other guys chest, Jim not so much.
Alex Gibbs coached DBs, OSU had an OL opening he interviewed for. Woody said, why can you coach the OL, you are a DB guy. Gibbs said Woody, you are the greatest OL coach of all time, I figure you will teach me everything I need to know!

Nobody knows who really is the best. Also people have different definitions of what makes a coach great. For example McNally only coached 4 all pro's Olinemen in 43 years of coaching in the NFL. If he was that good a coach some would say he should have had a ton more than 4 all pro's in 43 years in the nfl. Others say would look at who was voting and standards for all pro linemen. Very subjective. They are all good coaches. Point was if Stout can't get Green on board then I would say his NFL career is just about over. Eagles have the best oline in football and Stout has so much to do with that. Everywhere he has gone he excels. LJ is just so good at OT and Mailata at the other OT is incredible to be that big and move like he does, Stout molded him beautifully. Stout also just does coach the oline he is the run game coordinator for the offense which requires even more knowledge. Interesting to watch the game evolve and how the coaches are forced to evolve in their coaching methods.

Fwiw jimmy was the first position coach in the NFL to earn over $1 million per yr. Respect from the people doing the hiring
As I said respect to Stout for listening to Jimmy. Who knows where he’d be without him Go watch the tape
