Without looking it up, aren’t the Reds older and longer tenured?
I was wondering about the Pirates. Turns out that the Pirates were founded in 1881, but originally played in the American Association, didn’t join the National League until 1887. Phillies have been in the National League since 1883.

After Sluggo mentioned the Reds, I checked. The Reds didn’t join the National League until 1889, in the American Association in 1881. The Reds have no connection with the Cincinnati Red Stockings, the first pro team.

I think the Cubs and Braves are the two original charter National League teams. Both founded in 1881, but played in different cities for periods.

The Phillies joined the National League in 1883 but have been in the same city the longest.

Thst’s clear. Can’t confirm but this looks right, from what I’ve read this morning.

Roob's 1st Observations of the season:

Good perspective as usual. Week 1 tends to be a bit squirrelly due to all the unknowns and starters not playing in the preseason. They got the W.

Losing Carter was a huge curveball. I’d normally give Jackson the benefit of playing with a full DL, but the quick pivot to sign another CB is telling.

Circling back on the Parsons trade…it seems the Eagles made a play for him. The above video sums my feelings.

All world player, but no way could they have made the $ and draft comp work, AND kept this core together.

Iiiinteresting. Wonder if Shipley is a longer injury that they let on.

that would be my guess (that Shipley's injury will last a good bit of time). They'e never really addressed the extent of the injury since Thursday's game (I didn't watch Siranni's PC earlier today), which is pretty much the standard for them, unless it's a season-ending injury. As ESP speculates in his post I linked above, you don't make a trade like this (meaning give up 2 draft picks), at the beginning of the season, for a RB that will be scratch for most games.

The Bigsby trade, IMO, is exactly what contenders should do
Even if Shipley isn't out long term giving up 2 late round picks for a guy that's proven he can have success in the NFL is a good play
Well done Howie

You can never have too much depth at RB. It’s a tough position and this team loves to pound the rock.
