Closest Elite 8 to straight chalk I've ever seen, maybe ever existed? (lowest seed is a 3!!)

Thought they were the most vulnerable #1 seed with the way they were playing coming into the tournament. 2nd half was pretty impressive tonight. Wore Michigan down with depth, length and quickness.
Yes, they certainly flipped a switch for the second half and played more like a #1 seed.

2007 was just like this year ... 1v3, 1v2, 1v2, 1v2 ... and highest seeds in the NCAA tourney ever in the Elite 8.

2009 Elite 8 was 1v3, 1v3, 1v2, 1v2, so almost as close.

2008, in the middle of those years, had 1v2, 1v3, 1v3 and 1v10 ... with all 4 1 seeds advancing to the Final 4.

So that was a 3-year stretch of relative boringness ... though 2008 did have Steph Curry's Davidson causing some excitement as the 10 seed.

Yes, Curry’s Davidson team handily beat a decent Georgetown team. My personal introduction to Stephen Curry.

The higher seed has won the last 11 games, 17 of the last 18, 21 of 25 since the Round of 32 started. Overall higher seed is 46-11. Nothing but 1's and 2's left. (I don't count the first four)

Seemed TTU was overly aggressive inside on offense all night long and didn't get called for it. Forearms and shoving all night long.

Texas Tech gives it away in brutal fashion. As big a collapse as I can recall seeing.
Clayton will get the credit for those last two 3s, but Thomas Haugh is the one who got Florida within striking distance with back-to-back 3s (including after his offensive rebound) to go from 9 down to 3 down in 30 seconds.

Haugh played at New Oxford just west of York for two years before transferring to Perkiomen School near Quakertown. When he transferred his only Division I offer was St. Mary's in Emmitsburg MD. He's come a long way.

It won't be low scoring. That is certain.
The more I think of it, the more I think that the Duke coaches looked on the BYU-Alabama film as a lesson in how not to game-plan Alabama. BYU’s strategy was basically “Let’s hope Alabama doesn’t get hot from 3.” Very poor coaching, imo. I watched ten minutes of Duke-Alabama and immediately recognized the difference. (I’m usually very slow in picking up these things.)

After the Sweet 16 games @bdgan complained about defenders not fighting over screens, well he was right about BYU at least. I think this absolutely had to be the coaching. Thoughts?

Tennessee-Houston 2:20, Michigan State-Auburn 5:05. On CBS. Hoping for a couple exciting games. Will be rooting for Tennessee and MSU.
Blech ... 3 southern squads and a boring MSU squad. Hoping all 4 squads get DQ'ed.

Tennessee has one basket so far, at 11:37 of 1st. The open looks they are finding are just too far out, NBA 3s. If they don’t get hot, or stop being ice-cold, soon, they’re screwed.

I had a feeling this could get ugly ... but not this ugly this fast. I took Tenn +12.5 in an alt spread, because I didn't trust them to be that competitive against a D like Houston ... but, good lord.

Tennessee just can’t hit their threes. They managed to get better looks later in the half but just couldn’t hit.

BYU had a terrible game plan against Alabama.
Not as bad as Tennessee's against Houston. If your defense is your offense and you're down 20, you're in trouble. Bettors laddering Houston all over the country the last hour.

There’s 17 min left in the game and Tennessee still has only 15 points.

Ugly game. Tennessee couldn’t buy a three. They had their open looks, just couldn’t make them fall.

I have a live parlay w/ Houston -3/MSU money line I placed the other day, but I bet on AU. Chalk tournament, I like AU 1st half spread, AU spread. Even if sparty gets me, I have the parlay hopefully.
