125 Qtr: #1 seed Luke Lilledahl vs. #8 seed Sheldon Seymour (Lehigh)

I'll use SS for Seymour

Per 1
Lots of ear-to-ear to start. Then SS working working the edge. SS gets a leg, Luke with a whizzer, and Luke gets the leg free. Stalemate with 1:44 left. Back to ear-to-ear, and hand/wrist fighting. SS sort of reaches, nothing. Luke with a bit of a throw-by, nothing. End

Per 2
SS takes bottom. S slowly works up, returned, hits a roll, and Luke stays with him. Then SS gets out at 30 sec, 0-1. SS shoots, but stalemate called with 1:15 left. Luke snaps the head down and reaches, but nothing. End RT @ 30 sec for Luke

Per 3
Luke takes bottom. Luke up, and out in 9 sec, 1-1. SS's strength and compact size seems to be frustrating Luke on his O. 1 min left. Luke shoots, but SS kicks away. Stopped for interlocking hands with @ 40 sec left. Luke in on a single, SS dives for the edge and does a split, and he's able to kick away but gets a stall call. Luke shoots again, but the buzzer sounds.

SV-1
Luke gets a single, gets behind, SS hits a roll when he hits the mat and grabs a leg, Luke working to get behind and free the leg, he's close, but then SS locks the leg, now SS trying to come up out the back, they are on the edge, and then OOB with 30 sec. Wow. Luke reaches, nothing. SS dives, nothing. Luke goes for an ankle pick but SS kicks away.

TB-1
SS takes bottom. SS works up and hits a roll, he is out in 11 sec. Luke shoots, but the buzzer sounds.

TB-2
Luke takes bottom. He's up, lifted, and they are OOB with 21 sec left. Luke hits a roll and tries to get a reversal, but SS locks a leg, and a stall call on SS for locking on the leg, makes it 2-2.Luke to his feet, but can get away, so SS wins on riding time (14 seconds).

Ugh

Luke will wrestle in the consolations

Luke is awesome. Give the other kid credit. Luke needs a little more strength. The lehigh kid was thicker and stronger. Luke was close but couldnt get his leg free etc in the first ot. He has a bright future

Are they waiting to finish a whole weight class before starting the next? Because if so we won't have any PSU guys at once.

Not the best of starts, especially with Davis going up against #1 seed, and Bartlett to follow. Going 2-1 in the first 3 would have been a solid outcome, but now we're relying on both Davis and BB to get us that.

Man! Byrd owns Davis. Just dominates him. Davis usually can hang with or beat anyone, but not Byrd.

133 Qtr: #8 seed Braeden Davis vs. #1 seed Lucas Byrd (Illinois)

I'll use LB for Byrd

This is a tough matchup for Davis.

Per 1
After a bit, Byrd working an underhook, but a stalemate with 2:01 left. Byrd with a shot, Davis tried an elevator to counter, but Byrd with the TD, 0-3. After a bit, Davis gets flattened. Byrd working a tight waist. Davis works up, tries a roll, and is away, 1-3. End RT @ 1:33 for LB

Per 2
LB takes bottom. LB to a 3-point stance, then hits a shoulder roll and is out, 1-4. LB works in on a double and gets a TD and is exposed. It's 3+4 making it 1-11. Davis gets to his stomach, but he's got quite a deficit. End. RT @ 2:08 for LB

Per 3
Davis takes neutral. Stall warning on Davis about 1 minute in as LB drove in and Davis backed off the edge. RT is locked. Davis sort of shoots, nothing. End. With 2:08 in RT, it's a 1-12 MAJ for Lucas Byrd

Davis will drop into consolations

So I think I can do Bartlett's match, but will probably still be on that when Van Ness's match starts, so if someone can take SVN's match, that would be great.

Edit: as noted, they seem to be holding starting weight classes until all of the previous class are done, so I should be good for SVN's match.

I think they are letting the front side finish all of their matches before moving onto the next weight.

Finally a TD for a PSU wrestler today. BB with a re-attack go behind and after a funk roll-esque scramble BB is able to get the TD. He is up 4-1 in the second.

EDIT: Sorry 4-0. Now its the third Composto chose neutral.

Bartlett doing better.

I was starting to wonder if a team had ever gone 20-0 on Day 1 and 0-10 on Day 2. 😞

After a scoreless first period, Penn State 141-pound senior Beau Bartlett took down to start the second. He escaped and then took down Penn's CJ Composoto for a 4-0 lead. Penn State has its first semifinalists as Bartlett wins 5-0 with a riding time point.

141 Qtr: #2 seed Beau Bartlett vs. #10 seed CJ Composto (Penn)

I'll use CJ for Composto

Per 1
Nothing thru 1st minute. Bartlett gets in and gets behind but they go OOB, with 1:28 left. End

Per 2
Beau takes bottom. He's up and out quickly, 1-0. Beau shoots, they scramble, CJ has a hold of a leg, but Beau frees it for the TD, 4-0. OOB with 42 sec left. Beau with a good ride. End. RT @ 1:08 for Beau

Per 3
CJ takes neutral. Beau being very defensive -- got to watch for stall calls. That said, not much thru 1 min. CJ keeps moving in, and Beau is happy to go ear-to-ear, and then when he gets tot he edge he spins back to the center. Stall warning on Beau. End. With 1:08 pin RT, it's a 5-0 DEC for Beau, and he's through to the Semis!
