ESPN keeps the match on while McNeil is fiddling with his headgear, then the minute the match is ready to go back on, they switch to Lovett dominating Webster. WTF

Now McNeil needs to wrestle. Not much offense the 1st and 2nd period

In a 149-pound quarterfinal between No. 3 Shayne Van Ness of Penn State and North Carolina's No. 6 Lachlan McNeil, the two traded escapes to make it 1-1 early in the third. About 30 seconds into it, Van Ness lined up and finished a beautiful shot for a 4-1 lead. The Nittany Lion tacked on a late takedown after a McNeill escape to win, 7-2. He's the Lions' second semifinalist.

149 Qtr: #3 seed Shayne Van Ness vs. #6 seed Lachlan McNeil (UNC)

I'll use LM for Lachlan

Per 1
SVN raches, nothing. Both guys are active with head control and hand fighting. Not much thru 1:30. Stalemate (I think) with 1:26 left. SVN nearly worked a nifty move, but nothing. Stoppage with 54 sec left as LM's headgear comes off, and then has to be tended to by his coaches. Takes a long time to get fixed. SVN shoots, nothing. End

Per 2
LM takes bottom. He's out quickly, 0-1. SVN shoots, blocked. 1 min left. SVN sort of shoots, LM counters, then SVN counters, and they go OOB with 21 sec left. Best flurry of the match. I believe there was a stall warning on LM during that. End. RT @ 2 sec for SVN

Per 3
SVN takes bottom. He's out pretty quickly, 1-1. RT not a factor. SVN with a nice double for a TD, 4-1. OOB with 1:16 left. LM to his feet and he's out, 4-2. LM with a shot, nothing. SVN shoots, nothing. LM shoots, nothing. SVN nearly in, then back in with a double and gets a TD with 7 sec left, 7-2. End

SVN advances to the Semis!!!

Lehigh and UNC did so little it was shocking. I guess if the refs have swallowed their whistles it is ok, but it is tough to be a fan.

I'm far from an expert but it seems like SVN excels when he can get right up against his opponent and struggles with the lankier guys.
