197 Qtr: #4 seed Josh Barr vs. #5 seed Michael Beard (Lehigh)

I'll use MB for Beard

Per 1
Barr looks active early. Bears in on a shot, and gets the TD, 3-0. MB to his feet, returned, back up, and OOB with 52 sec left. Caution on MB. MB to his feet, returned, then back up and out, 3-1. End. RT @ 25 sec for Barr

Per 2
Barr takes bottom. He's out in 5 sec, 4-1. Barr shoots and gets a single, gets the other leg afor the TD, 71. MB out as they go OOB with 1:27 left, 7-2. Barr shoots a double to a single, then grabs the other ankle and gets the TD, 10-2. Barr with a good ride, and they go OOB with 40 sec left. Caution on MB (his 2nd). MB to his feet, Barr works up for control, and the buzzer sounds. End. RT @ 1:39 for Barr

Per 3
MB takes neutral. MB reaches, nothing. Barr shoots a double, nothing. Barr shoots, gets a single, they scramble, but Barr gets the TD, 13-2. MB hits a roll, but stopped for PD with 35 sec left. RT is locked for Barr. MB to his feet, and he's out, 13-3. End With 2:09 in RT, it's a 14-3 MAJor for Barr

Barr is into the Semis

285 Qtr: #3 seed Greg Kerkvliet vs. #6 Joshua Heindselman (Michigan)

I'll use JH for Heindselman

Per 1
Kerk with a double for a TD, 3-0. Kerk working on a tilt, but can't quite get it. JH is flattened, and not doing much other than not turning. Stall call (I missed the 1st warning) makes it 4-0. End. RT @ 2:21 for Kerk

Per 2
JH takes neutral. Not a lot happening. End. RT @ 2:21 for Kerk

Per 3
Kerk takes neutral. JH reaches, nothing. 1 min left. Kerk seems contest to just tie up. JH sort of shoots, and goes OOB and blood time for JH with 21 sec left. JH shots and sort of had an ankle but Kerk kicks free. End. With 2:21 in RT it's a 5-0 DEC for Kerk

Kerk advances to the Semis!!!

Not a wrestler but how come some guys barely acknowledge the other wrestler after a loss? Seems like a solid handshake with eye contact would be a minimum effort. We practically hug each other in my church softball league.

church league softball is more of a friendly competition.

from the matches we've watched today, the loser drops into the consolations, and ends their chances of finishing as the champion. They are usually pretty ticked off, so it happens. Some guys are better at shaking even after a loss, and others want to get off the mat as quickly as possible.

Not sure what he was thinking, he was essentially up 2 with RT, he could have stalled it out.

Yeah, that was brutal by BearClaw. He had the win in hand, and didn't need to shoot. And yet he shot (poorly), and got countered at the very end of the match.

Not always friendly Tom. A couple guys on St. Cecilia are real pains in the a$$. 😆

Tom, novice here. If kasak toe not down there would TD then not have occurred?

Interesting question. In college, some part of one of the wrestlers must still be inbounds for a TD to be awarded.

The caveat is that the ref is somewhat out of the screen. Kasak was in the danger position, and I'm not sure if the ref's count on that got to 3. If it did, then it was a TD. If not, then PSU should have challenged the call. If you look at the sequence in full screen and slow it down, there is a short time when Kasak's foot is off the mat, and before Seymour spins around and gets his feet inbounds. I'm pretty sure that in college, at least one has to be touching, and they don't have a virtual cylinder on the line (in high school, I know that's the case).
