Here is my take on the NCAA ticket scarcity. I have been going to this tournament faithfully since about 1980 and I attended several after I graduated from OK State in 1964 before parenting took over for a few years in the late 60's and 70's. Until last year I never had any trouble ordering tx from OK State although in some years I got better seating getting them from an acquaintance. Last year I did not have enough posse points to get tx although I was at least on the list. I relied on a big donor for tx last year who I really did not know well but friends and relatives did. I appreciated him but with the scarcity of tickets this year I do not think I will be able to find them. I do not resent the big donors getting the tickets as without them our program will not grow the way we all want it to. I did go to the last tournament in Philly and really enjoyed it and it was one of my favorite in the approximately 50 I have attended. I am resigned to not going this year
although I do have rooms reserved. I can cancel them and I have not yet scheduled plane tickets and will not unless I can get tickets. At my age travel is not really my friend so in some ways I am relieved but I am sad that I and a lot of faithful fans do not have the opportunity to attend. I will be watching all I can on Flo or ESPN . This is not a plea for tickets but I would still attend if tickets dropped in my lap. In the meantime,
LETS GO POKES!!!.
Turns out that had several ways to get tickets this year but in the end I have decided not to go. I have been to Philly when it was there and thoroughly enjoyed it but just could not justify the cost both in dollars and also the distance which at my age is a cost to the body. For the first time since 1980 KC Scott will be going without his wingman (me). He does have an extra ticket(mine) and I can put you in touch with him if he has not sold it already.

I have decided not to go to Philly and I have two tickets should anyone be interested in buying them. They will be a total of 820 dollars. 400 apiece plus there was a 20 dollar fee. Sec 223 Row 9 seats 6,7 I believe. Email me at [email protected].

We have an extra 9 luxury suite tickets if you don’t mind hanging with some PSU and Cal Poly fans for the weekend. $3100 per ticket gets you all sessions and food/beer/wine in our suite with private bathroom. Trying to avoid after market sites for both buyer and seller getting raked over the coals for hundreds of dollars of unnecessary fees.

Just a reminder that there is one ticket available for Nationals from KC Scott. I can put you in touch with him if anyone is interested. [email protected] or (405) 694-8332.

Philly has a lot of stuff, but not much in the area of the arena. I don't love the city (or even like the city🤣). Football and baseball stadiums are in the vicinity, but not a lot of restaurants or things to do from what I remember, so plan for uber depending on where you are staying - either between sessions or to and from the arena.

Stay in Center City and take the subway. Straight run 15 minutes. Very easy.

Fixed it. Ticket office said it’s been a common issue. For anyone else that can’t get them, I had to “sign up” with Ticketmaster with my email they were attached to. Even though I already had an account with Ticketmaster. Not sure how it worked but after I did that and reset my password they were in “My Events”.

I'll be in Philly for this event. To find you guys, should I look toward the Niagara Falls of tears or the smell of cow mature on your boots? 🤣 🤣 Remember, that was a respectful and sincere question. ;)

Do you guys always hold a funeral before Nationals? This site is dead today. We are four days away my friends. Let's get crazy before the 7 month hibernation.

I think you guys have a real shot at 2nd, but seeding did you no favors. Iowa received better draws overall. Honestly, finals at Big 12s hurt you a lot in seedings. The best chance at a finalist imo is Dean, and he'd have to go through Haines to do it. I think OSU has a solid team with 5-6 AAs, and as others have stated, the backside is going to be important to your totals. That said, Brands underperforms as a coach consistently at nationals, so while he might have two finalists, Iowa might be weaker on the backside. It's gonna be close and I'll be pulling for you guys.

Idk if you’re aware but there were 130 wildfires across the state of Oklahoma Friday. Over 200 homes burnt to the ground.
Stillwater was his hard. Multiple members of the OSU community lost their homes. Multiple members of this board were impacted.

I have seen it reported that Leroy Smith and Gary Calcagno lost their homes and probably a lot of sentimental keepsakes in the wildfires.

I’ve made it well into adulthood without ever being into wrestling but this year has hooked my family and me. Went to CKLV and the Big 12 finals and our crew is having fun predicting each weight (even though our global knowledge of the wrestling world barely exceeds our big 12 teams, PSU and Iowa.

The big 12 tournament made it clear that most weights are close and nothing comes easy but I’m going to stay optimistic about our chances that everyone performs to peak level. Here are my picks to win each weight, also with where I have our guys finishing!

125: Ramos, Figs, Lilledahl (Spratley #8)
133: Ayala, Byrd, Bouzakis (based on an Orine upset over Bailey that probably won’t happen in the blood round😂)
141: Bartlett, Hardy, Alirez (Jamison #7)
149: Henson, Van Ness, Lovett (Teague Rd 16)
157: Shapiro, Kasak, Hipoloto (Fish #7)
165: Mesenbrink, Hall, Caliendo (Amine #7)
174: Hamiti, O’Toole, Haines
184: Keckeisen, Starocci, Plott
197: Buchanan, Cardenas, Ferrari (Surber #7)
285: Stevenson, Hendrickson, Kerkvliet

Obviously feel confident with Hamiti, Plott and Hendrickson making AA. Spratley and Jamison are next in the confidence pecking order with Surber following close behind. Amine and Fish could go either way. I like Fish’s path but his best work was earlier in the year. Amine could AA or go 0-2.

Again, this is definitely on the more optimistic side of things. Realistically of our top guys, Hendrickson and Hamiti should be top 3. I’d like to think Plott’s floor is 4. Spratley’s floor is 8 to me unless he makes a mistake in the early rounds by being too aggressive. I have him facing both Ramos and Strickenberger and Robinson in the 7/8. Jamison’s path is more uncertain to me… I have him facing both Latona and VomBaur in the consolations. Both could go either way. I do feel confident with him at least making the blood round worst case. Fish’s progression in my bracket is based on matchups. I think he beats Zerbin again in the blood round. I was really proud of how Dean wrestled O’Toole and think he gets him if they wrestle again. I love Dean’s length with Haines. Will be a heckuva match if they meet in the semi’s.

Anyway, very little analysis I know but still fun!

No, I loved your passion and post. Keep at it. I'll start off by saying that Fish has always been Fish and you can't change his stripes. Probably my bias against his "style". His distinct lack of combo wrestling makes him predictable, and with proper scouting, he can be beat by a good wrestler. That goes for most guys who do not progress to a more complex style. There are always better guys and/or those who have the formula to defeat your one style of wrestling. I don't think he places. The same applies to Amine. No disrespect. Just my opinion on that style of wrestling.

I like Tony, Dean, Plott, Hendrickson, and Surber to AA. hendrickson may be the best wrestler on the team (Dean close second), but I think Dean has the best shot for finals. He has to beat Haines, who is himself a great defensive wrestler. This matchup will come down to who gets the first takedown, which may not come until OT. It should be a fun bout. Plott is great but is up against Keck and Star. Bad timing. I think he takes 3rd. Hendrickson takes 3rd as well. Troy and Surber AA anywhere from 5-8. That's my best guess. I think Troy makes a leap next year.

We’re staying at The Ledger…is that okay?

Not familiar with that hotel. I am guessing that is the old Daily Ledger (Newspaper) that was retro fitted. I looked it up. I find the Ledger Apts in Olde City. Is that where you are staying? Olde City is a pretty good neighborhood. No major problems. It is the historic district.

You would have to take the Market Subway to center city and then get on the Broad Street Line the sports complex. Pretty easy run.

Here is a mass transit map of Philly.

The Riverfront in Wilmington, DE has some nice hotels there. It is only like a 20 minute ride to Well Fargo. Some good places to eat at drink at that you can walk to on the Riverfront too.
